Now that my resit results are in and I've managed to fight off the urge to play Dwarf Fortress, here's episode 35: 2:39: line overlap timings 3:32: "Unlike on Mars, I won't be able to..." , the timing's off 3:49: "Find her! Even if you have to search all the way down to the grassroots" or possibly "Even if you have to turn every stone in the city" 4:43: Dammit that made me giggle. "Women getting spirited away? In this day and age?" is better. 4:58: farming -> hunting 5:34: getting shagged -> being spirited away 6:53: city of Shinzai -> Shinzai City 7:55: line overlap 8:26: "Look out" 8:38: line overlap 13:03: Full moon formation -> Jiraiya Crescent moon formation 14:14: "I'm flattered that you call me by my full name" 15:22: damaged -> destroyed, energy -> power 17:38: line overlap 17:52: He's spouting gibberish here I think, can't make much sense of it. 18:16: "I have a snake" -> I have Orochi 18:17: "And we all know toads are weak against Orochi" 18:21: Orochi is Orochi the Eight-Forked Serpent, but you're only the Three-Forked serpent 18:32: a snake -> Orochi 18:49: Caps lock fail 21:07: energy -> power 22:02: Meganoid prototype -> cyborg prototype 22:44: feeling -> thing For the running "Women are scary" joke, Garrison's reply works better as "Indeed" Next episode title: Dreams of the past in the darkness. Orochi is a multiheaded (traditionally 8 headed) snake in Japanese folklore: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orochi. May need a TL note. Apparently translated into english as the Eight-Forked Serpent (Yamata no Orochi). Jiraiya is a ninja who could shapeshift into a toad. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jiraiya I really, really hope the use of the verb "shagged" wasn't intentional. Because it's hard to translate when you've cracked up laughing. Although the bizzare ninja antics are also hilarious. |

Good to see you enjoyed the episode and the intentional shagging. Checking the script, it seems that I am the one responsible for the shagging line, the original SCIENCE! line was: "Mysterious disappearances? Are you sure?" I actually had written "spirited away" at first but changed that because I thought it didn't fit well with Banjo's "Aren't we years past that kind of stuff?". So I started thinking what I could use and I remembered the meaning of "knight steals pretty woman and (forcefully) marries her in the Middle Ages" for shagging (in my native language, at least), so I thought it fitted the sentence perfectly. Though when I'm reading it now with the rest of the scene I can't stop laughing either. Honestly, I don't know what was wrong with me. ![]() Anyways, I'll fix this up tomorrow as I've got an early college that I need to sleep for. Till then! |

Now curious as to what your native language is that you could go from mysterious disappearance/spirited away to shagged in one leap of logic. The verb used is "kamikakushi", literally "spirit hiding" or "hidden by spirits", usually translated to spirited away. |

I'll let you know once we finish this show. Also, are you okay with this change: 6:09: Have my men dispose of them as they wish. > We can rebuilt them into Soldiers to get some use out of them. |

Yeah that's fine. Can't believe I missed that. 6:08: Isn't it obvious The line change for 6:09 is fine. "We can use them to make Soldiers" is a bit closer. |

Alright, fixed up final version at last: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=3YNW6P5I This was a great episode, wasn't it? A love story, comedy, parody, fourth wall breaking, Tom&Jerry with ninja's, mecha action and a heartwarming finale all executed lovely. What more could you possible want from a 20 minute anime episode? |

Ouch, seeing the release post made me realize I totally forgot about addressing the TL note. Well, I thought it wasn't too necessary because there's about three seconds between Banjo saying Orochi for the first time and Jiraya translating it for us as Eight-Forked Serpent, which is all you need to know to get the joke anyway. And Goemon is just a bonus for Lupin fans, if you don't know the character you won't get much out of some note telling you it references him anyway. However, putting those links on the blog for the curious viewers is definitely good stuff! |

Yeah, I figured it was the best workaround. The final fight makes more sense if you get the reference. |

Well wow, that's fast. First time one of my uploads gets deleted. I'm re-upping it, but I've gotta leave in 10 minutes so I can't give you the link. That's why I quickly slapped together a torrent here: http://www.nyaatorrents.org/?page=torrentinfo&tid=157500 My upload speed isn't too great, but at least the episode is available in some form. Our most recent release post having just a dead link would be bad advertising. |
