I'm going to vent in this topic my frustration that the Kuuga Figuarts was apparently listed on HLJ for a million years, but it was on the wrong page, and now that it's on the right page it's sold out. SIGH. Also, OoZ started up Kuuga again? So now there are three groups working on the same show? Yet we're the only one that's been making any progress. We need more of a presence online. |

No seeds on the torrent. If I could finish the file, at least, I'd keep seeding. |

Sorry, had to close the client for awhile. While it doesn't seem to have much affect on my connection it seems to murder everyone else in the house on bandwidth. |

I miss my Kuuga. And Order of Zeronos started subbing it again? That really annoys me, for some reason! |

Its cool. As of now, we're the only ones making any real progress. And we're not doing tons of guesswork with our translations. |

Real slow progress, i might add. And are you implying that their translation is filled with guesswork? That aside, i'm sorry for all the delays. The fact that the last few days is a public holiday here (which means i can't work on the translation with my buddy) doesn't help at all. |

Hey! Educated guesswork is a normal part of translating. But then I usually improvise the bits where someone is yelling and it's easy to figure out from context, low priority in the accuracy department. Complicated dialogue on the other hand is a right minefield. It's a balance really. I was always taught when translating that it's better to improvise something that makes sense then to leave a gap. But making lots of stuff up means your translation skills need work and you need to find a dictionary. |

I think my big problem with some of the "big" fansub groups is that they try SO HARD to translate everything as literal as possible. It ends up sounding clumsy and awkward when a native english speaker reads it. Not to mention the honorifics, random japanese words, and general weaboo stuff. I was watching Kiva a while back with my girlfriend, subbed by TV-Nihon, and they called a character "okaasan." I didn't know what okaasan meant. My girlfriend used to be big into anime and Japan when she was younger, so I thought maybe she knew. We had to look it up online, only to see that it means Mother. So why not just say "mother?" I honestly don't understand. The flow of the episode was ruined because I had to pause the video, go over to my computer, and look up the meaning of a word. That SHOULDN'T happen when you watch a subtitled TV show. |

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. It even happens in professional things, like Z.O.E. The 2nd Runner. I loved nearly everything about that game, but damn does the dialouge come off as a bit awkward at times. And from what I heard that was mostly due to localization errors. And I thought it was the general consensus of /m/ that OOZ didn't do a good job. |
