Juventus plot Gerrard raid
Quote:

Reports in Italy on Tuesday are suggesting that Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is Juventus’ No 1 summer transfer objective.

After the two parties were linked by some sections of the British media at the weekend, whispers in the peninsula today seem to confirm that the England man is wanted.

Although Juventus arguably already have the best central midfield partnership in world football thanks to Emerson and Patrick Vieira, boss Fabio Capello is keen for even more alternatives.

The club already seem to have agreed to sign Cristiano Zanetti from Inter on a free transfer, but Gerrard is wanted too – a player who would eventually take over from the ageing Emerson.

Juventus are said to be willing to offer Liverpool £21m for the Anfield favourite, or £17m plus French defender Jonathan Zebina.

The player himself, who has been tracked by Chelsea over the last two summers, could net himself close to £4m a season for the next four years if he accepts.

Juventus have a reputation of improving their squad with at least one big name signing before the start of each season.

In the summer of 2004 they surprisingly swooped for Zlatan Ibrahimovic after agreeing an £11.5m fee with Ajax.

They then convinced Premiership outfit Arsenal to sell inspirational Frenchman Vieira for just £14m last August

is this for real ?? or piece of garbage ?

its too soon for us to get a replacement for emerson
furthermore i dont think either 3 of them wanna sit on the bench to make way for the other

its all over the Net bro...
i dunno.. i think its total crap
but we never know what might happen when Moggi is involve..
probably, this is my theory.. :P
if we do manage to capture Gerrard, Capello might go with 4-3-3 formation for his main tactics... imagine Emerson, Vieira and Gerrard in midfield. It would be awesome!. Because its hard to find a worthy replacement for Nedved..so we might go to another central mid and convert Mutu back to his old position, who knows Del Piero might play more often with this formation.
But still i think we might buy 1 CB for next season, Thuram is getting slow and we need him to guide the new CB while the time is still there.
Pity Marchionni if this would happen. 4-4-2 formation would be our 2nd formation and hence he wont be playing that regularly and Camoranesi might also be sold to fund this. :( . I dunno. This is just my theory. :P
