Juve On Verge Of Cassano Deal?

AS Roma star Antonio Cassano has moved closer to joining Juventus in June, according to reports in Italy.
Bianconeri director general Luciano Moggi met with Cassano’s agent Beppe Bozzo in Florence on Thursday and apparently agreed in principle to a deal.

Although Cassano will be a free agent in June, Juve are still set to pay Roma £3 million for the player’s services.

Roma have not yet agreed to any deal which would depend on their current transfer embargo being lifted.

The embargo was imposed following the non-payment of fees in the deal which took Philippe Mexes from Auxerre.

Juve ‘agree’ Cassano terms
Friday 2 December, 2005

Roma starlet Antonio Cassano is set to join Juventus in the summer, according to reports in Italy.

As reported by Football Italia yesterday, Juve director general Luciano Moggi met with Cassano’s agent Beppe Bozzo in Florence on Thursday to discuss a possible move and the two are said to have agreed in principle to a deal.

Under the terms of the agreement, Cassano would move to Turin in June and, although a free agent by then, Roma will be compensated for the loss of their £20m signing to the tune of approximately £3m.

The Giallorossi have yet to agree to the move but, with Inter and Real Madrid having distanced themselves from the player over the last week, agreement with the Bianconeri seems the only reasonable course of action left to the cash-strapped club from the Italian capital.

Provided Roma do agree to the deal, the only remaining stumbling block lies in the form of the European Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS).

They have yet to decide whether or not to lift the transfer embargo on the Giallorossi, imposed after the non-payment of fees following the Philippe Mexes’ move from Auxerre.

imo cassano is not a real team player
he will probably not fit in our squad :(

i also think that it is a waste that a young star like cassano is playing for roma
maybe some other clubs are more suitable for a player like him

btw do you guys catch his chipped penalty shot that has gone awry against red star belgrade recently... that was too cool & awful :(

hell no....cassano is goal scoring machine...he is smart n brilliant in front of goal....we will not by him for left wing purpose...i don't want to see another henry's story again...

most of time zlatan play on the left side n do u think he will assist zlatan (sole provider) to scores goals...cassano also not so good in crossing...don't overhaul the current system...if we really need him, its should be in our next season calender..

to buy cassano now, we need to give up one of our striker which i don't want to....

Cassano is goal scoring machine?... i always tot he's the similiar type with Zlatan
a forward not a striker...
but i do agree with u dude.. its a waste to put him as a winger
i dont think he can do the defensive duties as good as Nedved
and he dont have the drive and stamina to go up and down helping the team..
we dont need him this season.. but for next season
who knows?...

yeah...particularly u're rite.....zlatan n cassano are two similar type of players.....both of them technically gifted and has a same role.....

they also have similar characteristics ..... bad tempered and this issue well documented.....he can play for juve but don't mess up dressing room....

i think zlatan is a bit more special than cassano
thats why i said in another thread that capello is much more obsess with zlatan compared to cassano :P

i think capello wont mind bout cassano as long as zlatan is with him

Cassano ‘chooses’ Real Madrid
Wednesday 14 December, 2005

The Antonio Cassano saga appears set to reach its drawn-out conclusion with the Roma player opting for a January move to Real Madrid, according to reports in Spain and Italy.

Spanish daily Marca claimed today that Cassano had ‘chosen’ Real over Inter and that the mercurial 24-year-old will move to Madrid in the New Year transfer window for £4m.

With the Giallorossi desperate to cash in on their £20m signing, whose contract expires in the summer, and Inter chief Massimo Moratti confirming today that "there is no room for Cassano", Marca insists that Cassano will become a Galactico next month.

While the forward cannot officially decide to go anywhere until January 1, only Juve remain likely candidates to capture his services.

However, with the Bianconeri streaking ahead in the title race already, thanks to the exploits of David Trezeguet, Alessandro Del Piero and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, it remains to be seen whether they are willing to take a risk on the controversial Roma striker.

Real, on the other hand, are said to be have renewed their interest in Cassano since the injury of Raul and the departures of Vanderlei Luxembourgo and Arrigo Sacchi.

Sporting director Emilio Butragueno is a fan of the Bari-born marksman and is thought to be set on recruiting him.

Italian newspaper Il Corriere dello Sport has gone so far as to suggest that Real are ready and willing to spend £6m to beat Juve to the punch.
