Juventus have emerged as the front runners to sign Bayern Munich defender Willy Sagnol.

Sagnol, who is also being pursued by Inter, will be a free agent in the summer and it seems that his head has been turned towards Turin by France teammate Lilian Thuram.

The 28-year-old has enjoyed five fruitful years at Bayern, but is thought to be ready for a new challenge once he has represented his nation at the World Cup in Germany this summer.

Juventus, who poached Robert Kovac for nothing from the same Bundesliga club in June, are thought to have already offered the right-back a four-year deal worth £1.35m a term.

Sagnol would be an ideal replacement for Jonathan Zebina whose Delle Alpi days appear to be numbered after requesting a pay rise.

Well, Sagnol's certainly a good buy... i wouldn't mind him taking over from Zebina, though Zambro these days is starting to make his mark as right-back... If he's free, then go for it...

From certain rumours of Willy to wear black n white jersey until zambro re-position as a right back, now it came to this...... :P :

Milan are looking to revitalise their defence with the purchase of Juventus full-back Jonathan Zebina in the summer.

The Frenchman is surplus to requirements at Juve after spending most of the season out injured and asking for a pay rise.

That request was deemed to be excessive by the club directors and they have already looked to replace him by netting Willy Sagnol from Bayern Munich on a free transfer for next term.

Zebina has been identified as an ideal player to begin the rebuilding process for a Rossoneri defence in urgent need of rejuvenation - the entire rearguard, Alessandro Nesta excepted, are now in their thirties.

The former Roma defender is still only 27 and has won titles with both the Giallorossi and the Italian champions.

The San Siro side, meanwhile, are prepared to allow goalkeeper Christian Abbiati to make his loan stay with the Bianconeri permanent in exchange for the Frenchman.

litttle bit tricky offer...but i would say 'yes'

Juventus will not be signing Willy Sagnol this summer, as Bayern Munich have announced he’s agreed to extend his contract with the Bundesliga outfit.

The two clubs have been bitterly wrangling over the defender for the past few months, as he was set to become a free agent at the end of this season.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge had launched a scathing attack on Bianconeri director general Luciano Moggi, dubbing him “a Mafia-like figure” for his transfer tactics.

However, it seems that Bayern have had the last laugh by extending 28-year-old Sagnol’s contract until 2010.

“We have had his consent to renew the contract since before Christmas,” announced general manager Uli Hoeness.

Moggi had maintained a diplomatic public face over the affair and said earlier this week: “Sagnol is a problem for Bayern. If they don’t find an agreement then we will welcome him with open arms."

Bayern have now renewed the deals of four players who were set to become free agents this summer – Lucio, Oliver Kahn, Sebastian Deisler and Sagnol – but there are still question marks over the future of Michael Ballack.

The German international midfielder has been linked with Inter, Juventus and Real Madrid in recent weeks.

after sagnol's issue seems like bayern really wanna boycott us... <_<

latest news bout ballack:

Michael Ballack has moved to deny reports in Germany that he is on the verge of joining Juventus.

“There have been no new developments,” he said. “Otherwise I would have made an official announcement.”

“No deal has been done with Juventus,” he confirmed. “We are going to take things easy because the next contract will be the most important one of Ballack’s life.”

bad news :( :( :(

Willy Sagnol has turned down a lucrative Juventus move by agreeing to stay at Bayern Munich.

Sagnol seemed a virtual certainty to join Fabio Capello’s all-conquering Bianconeri on a free transfer in the summer, having come towards the end of his contract and been offered an attractive four-year package worth £1.7m a season to sign for the Italian champions.

However, like Oliver Kahn, Sebastian Deisler and Roque Santa Cruz before him, the two-times German Double-winning Frenchman has decided to remain at the club where he has enjoyed so much success.

"I have extended my contract with Bayern for four more fantastic years," he said. "The club allowed me to take my time because they knew I wanted to carefully decide upon my future.

"It is never easy to make such a decision," he added. "It’s always hard when you know that rich, prestigious clubs want you but now I know that I can look forward to four years that I will remember with happiness."

The news will come as a blow to Juve transfer guru Luciano Moggi, whose relations with the Bavarian club have soured over his attempts to prise players such as Sagnol and Michael Ballack away from Bayern.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge recently launched a public attack on the Juventus general director and compared his methods to those used by the Mafia.
