Trezeguet out - Vieri in? Thursday 30 June, 2005
from Channel4.com
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus are ready to sell David Trezeguet to Chelsea and replace him with Inter’s Christian Vieri.

The latter is reportedly set to be available, as stories suggesting that he will end his five-year Nerazzurri stint this summer gather pace.

Vieri has just 12 months left on his San Siro contract and the club are poised to release him in order to get him off their wage bill.

The Italian international striker is no longer guaranteed a starting shirt, as owner Massimo Moratti confirmed yesterday, and is not part of the club’s future plans as no contract extension has been offered.

Juventus are ready to take advantage of the situation after they initially failed in an attempt to re-sign him 12 months ago, following his season at the Delle Alpi in 1996-97.

Boss Fabio Capello is a massive fan of the 32-year-old and the Turin club would be keen again, especially as no transfer fee would be involved.

His proposed capture would also fit in nicely with the Old Lady’s transfer strategy this summer.

It is no secret that Roma starlet Antonio Cassano is their primary objective but they insist they lack the cash necessary to finance the swoop.

Yet Vieri’s arrival would allow them to cash in on Trezeguet, a reported £30m target for Chelsea who are still looking for a top class forward.

Vieri has also been linked with moves to Milan and Atletico Madrid recently.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

man, i'm not too keen on a 32-year old striker who's injury-prone and costs a lot in wages... A Vieri move to Turin would be a move in the wrong direction imo...

It's now official.... Vieri is on a free at the moment...

Vieri Terminates Contract With Inter
7/1/2005 11:44:00 AM

Inter have sensationally announced that they've parted ways with striker Christian Vieri.
The Italian international’s contract was due to expire next summer, but it has been confirmed that the two parties have mutually agreed to a split after talks over the past few days.

"Negotiations between the player and the club progressed smoothly at every stage, and the documents related to the contractual issue were registered at the Lega Calcio offices this morning," said a statement on the club’s official site.

"FC Internazionale thanks Christian Vieri for his contribution to the history of the club over the past six years.

"Christian Vieri thanks Inter and its fans for the professional respect and affection which characterised the relationship."

Vieri is now likely to be linked with a host of clubs as his future becomes the subject of intense debate.

Another piece of news which may affect Moggi's and Capello's transfer strategies for this coming season....

Roma handed transfer embargo
Friday 1 July, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FIFA have handed Roma a one-year transfer ban as a result of their controversial move for Philippe Mexes last summer.

The stopper joined the capital club before his Auxerre contract expired and although the switch was ratified, the Italian club have been severely punished for their conduct.

Roma were already informed earlier this month that they will have to pay Auxerre £5.3m for the defender, who was also given a six-week ban for his role in the transfer.

But the Stadio Olimpico outfit have now been told that they will be unable to buy anyone, both from Italy or abroad, during the next two transfer windows.

Giallorossi officials were told of FIFA’s decision late last night and have been examining the 18-page document ever since.

Lawyers acting for the Italian side are already preparing for an appeal in a bid to get the verdict scrapped.

If they fail then Roma will have to forget about any plans of signing news players this summer, such as Udinese’s David Pizarro.

It may also complicate their sales strategy regarding both Antonio Cassano and Amantino Mancini.

Although the pair can still legally be sold, they must be released for cash only rather than be involved in any player plus cash deal.

That will be a major blow to Juventus who were hoping to offer money and the likes of Giorgio Chiellini and Fabrizio Miccoli for Italian starlet Cassano.

FIFA’s decision shouldn’t affect the status of any transfers that have taken place so far, such as the arrivals of Shabani Nonda, Samuel Kuffour and Rodrigo Taddei.

but chelsea's offer for trez has been rejected kan? one thing, if juve really want to sell trez, now is the rite time..bcos as he getting older,i dun think his value will b that much esp after next season if juve happen to sign cassano n left trez in the bench.. amcam? lagi lar after roma being banned for transfers.. the decision to sell trez could solve the cash problem to sign cassano.. how far is true about the trezeguet deal we don't know
if it is real i see no reason why we do not accept it,
and if that's the way things turn around,
means that trezeguet will stay in the team while miccoli coming back,
which means that we have 6 strikers.
as a conclusion, we will not have vieri.

oh, and also cassano and gilardinho.

i begin to expect this will be a quiet season.

maybe roma wont sell cassano afterall coz if they do, then they wont have anyone to replace him considering that they arent allowed to buy anyone for the next two transfer windows.

if this happens then i guess we should go for gilardino.

This news really put Roma in a tight spot...
Cassano is 1 year left in his contract and if he's not renewing, he will be for free next season!!!!... i bet Roma wouldnt be that dumb to let that happen.
Maybe, this change of twist, put us in more bargain power to lure him away...
Roma by now must accept the value offered by Juve or lost him for nothing!!!
given there is no other team also bidding for him

Viola to welcome Vieri? Saturday 2 July, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Christian Vieri’s good friend Christian Brocchi reveals he is trying to convince him that Fiorentina is the right choice.

“For the last two weeks I have been trying to convince Vieri to come to Florence,” explained Brocchi in his presentation Press Conference at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Italian international Vieri is a free agent after agreeing to terminate his contract with Inter a year early and is seeking first team football that will enable him to be ready for the 2006 World Cup.

It is reported that the 32-year-old has been given a £6m ‘golden handshake’ by the Nerazzurri, saving on the £9m they would otherwise have had to pay over the last year of his deal between wages and image rights.

“This is a complex situation and every word I say could be misinterpreted,” added Brocchi. “It is up to the club now.”

It’s believed that Vieri would agree to a massive pay cut in order to complete the move, accepting as little as £2.5m per season.

Juventus director general Luciano Moggi ruled out a return to Turin. "Where would we fit Vieri in with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and David Trezeguet? Let's be serious..."

The Premiership seems to be out of the question, according to Newcastle United manager Graeme Souness.

“We did inquire about Christian Vieri. I got a mutual friend to have a word with the player, but it appears he wants to go to Spain.”

One of his potential options – a return to Atletico Madrid – has fallen through after the Spaniards signed Argentine striker Maxi Rodriguez.

vieri has comfirmed that he will go to Milan. i wont mind coz he's not the kind of striker we actually need.

if think deeply, what we should consider right now is that who will partner emerson in centre midfield for next season. i think thats what we lacked last season.

gilardino and cassano seem to be getting out of reach. unless we manage to sell Trez to any club for £30M - £37M (chelsea might do the job.. yeah i certainly hope so)

i guess in the end we may just use mutu. but still.. i hope we can sell trez and capture vieira/pizarro/mozart and gila/cassano from the money

and pls buy bonera.

---------------buffon----------------

zebina/---thuram--canna---zambo
bonera

camo---vieira/---emerson--neddy
---------mozart/
---------pizarro

-------del piero/---zlatan----------
----------mutu

this could be the lineup for next season
