Juventus make Cassano bid Wednesday 1 June, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus have reportedly made Roma an initial player plus cash offer in their bid to sign Antonio Cassano.

Director general Luciano Moggi is understood to have met with Giallorossi chief operating officer Rosella Sensi on Tuesday to start talks.

The Bianconeri are ready to hand over Adrian Mutu and £9m for the Italian international forward.

Moggi made contact at the request of Fabio Capello, who bossed the youngster during his time in the Italian capital.

Juve are also keen to wrap up the deal as soon as possible given that Inter and Real Madrid are also interested in the former Bari starlet.

The Stadio Olimpico side will now have to decide what to do with Cassano as his contract expires in 2006.

The club have already extended the contracts of Vincenzo Montella and Francesco Totti but an agreement with Cassano may be difficult.

The cost of keeping the 23-year-old would be high and it may make more sense to cash in on him, especially as they will now be paying Totti £7.5m-a-season.

It was believed that Juve would offer cash and Shabani Nonda to the Giallorossi but that now looks unlikely.

Reports in Italy today suggest that Nonda has failed a medical and therefore will not complete a summer move to Juve from Monaco.

Bayern Munich stopper Robert Kovac has passed his medical and he is set to be confirmed as a Juve player very soon.

Meanwhile, Olivier Kapo could be heading back to France. The winger has failed to settle in Turin since his move from Auxerre and Monaco are keen on his services.

.................................................

whoa!!! Totti is getting paid £7.5m a season!!! That pretty much makes him the highest paid footballer (in terms of wages)... A good guess would be that Cassano WILL be sold off now.

9million + Mutu for Cassano... kinda expensive though for the lad... If the transfer does happen, the biggest question now is whether Del Piero will have ANY sort of place in the Juventus line-up next season, coz we all know that Capello will likely play Cassano as a starter....

The end of Del Piero at Juventus? The reincarnation of AS Roma in the Old Lady? The only thing we need now is an asshole for a president and then we can call ourselves "FC Roma"!!!

Don't get me wrong... I think Cassano will be a useful player at Juventus, but i HOPE that this will be the LAST import from Roma under Capello...

it seems that moggi has started to make a bid. i dont mind if we have to offer mutu in order to get cassano. he's worth it. even though we're still havent be able to see yet how good mutu is at juve. i believe its now the time to get cassano before other clubs do so, especially real.

yeah, totti has signed a new contract with roma and it will keep him until 2010. that time hell be around 34. and hell be paid 7.5m per season, which is high! quite unbelievable. i dont understand why he's still wanna remain at roma since this guy is world class and hell probably get more chances to play in more competitive matches if he goes to other big clubs, like real maybe.

quite a relief for me that shabani nonda deal is cancalled. we're looking forwards to get cassano so imo its useless to go for this guy. i still couldnt find any reason why moggi wants him anyway.

i dont mind if capello import some of the players from his former club to juve, with the likes of emerson and zebina, and the lastest one could be cassano as this guys are seriously good and capello knows it. dont worry, not all of them will be coming here. :D

more update on this.... taken from Channel4

Juve close in on Cassano Monday 20 June, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roma starlet Antonio Cassano could complete his move to Juventus by the end of this week.

The attacking talent has been heavily tipped to make the switch and there could be some significant developments over the next few days.

Giallorossi officials will reportedly meet with Giuseppe Bozzo, Cassano’s agent, on Tuesday where they will confirm their readiness to sell the player.

Juventus transfer chief Luciano Moggi will then meet with Roma’s Rosella Sensi later in the week to make a formal offer.

The Bianconeri are expected to bid £10m and Adrian Mutu for Cassano, whose contract in the capital expires in 2006.

Cassano is thought to be keen to team up again with former Roma boss Fabio Capello at the Stadio Delle Alpi.

That has made him unpopular with some sections of the Roma faithful who openly despise the Turin giants.

Cassano was even heckled by a small group of supporters as he attended the wedding of Francesco Totti on Sunday.

Other whispers suggest that the former Bari player will definitely complete his transfer to the Old Lady by June 30.

Channel4:

Cassano hasn’t been a regular fixture in the plans of Marcello Lippi and his lack of appearances for Real Madrid since his January switch have hampered him further.

“I haven’t lost hope, but I do think it will be extremely difficult for me to go to the World Cup,” he stated

“I’m not playing that regularly with my club and it is clear that only those who play consistently will travel.”

As i mentioned earlier, cassano to madrid just ruined his career... -_-

if capello remains next season then i would like to see juve sign Cassano.. from the current situation we can get a good price out of him.... one more good thing abt his lack of match fitness is lippi is more likely to choose Ale ahead of him n lippi ll also have less pressure from the media if he play ale in the starting lineup, so ale can have more time to prove himself

He carries the "Bad Boy" image of italian footbal...but that is purely an attitude problem...on skill wise i'm impress with him while he was at Roma....
Bring him in Capello..... :welcome:
