The consoles have come a long way. It's been almost four years since the launch of the Xbox 360, and almost three for Sony's Playstation 3. This time in the game industry is incredibly crucial. The economy is suffering, and game companies need to get their best work out the door and into consumers hands. The one preview event that happens each year, which gives us trailers, demos and previews is starting up on June 1st, 2009. This my friends, is E3.

E3 will be scooping the best and the brightest to give us gamers a look into the future. There will be thousands of reporters and combatants fighting to give us the latest scoop; fighting over our hitsSo what kinds of things do you think the three major gaming platforms (Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony [honorable mention, PC]) will be giving us? What games, or teasers do you think will hit the show floor? What kind of announcements will rally the gaming recession and get our asses moving into sequels?

Tell us here, where your opinion matters. :)

Aside from the completely obvious MW2 gameplay, I'm looking forward to hearing info about the new Army of 2: The 40th Day, Halo ODST, Bioshock 2.... I'm sure there are others, I'm just way tired from work. I'll add stuff when I think of it. E3 this year is gonna be intense!

One interesting thing to remember is this, with it being the fourth year of the Xbox 360, we'd normally expect to see it's predecessor announced this year, if they were to continue the normal four year run. But, I don't think anyone is expecting such a machine for at least a couple more years. Not since the Video Game Crash of 1983 has there been more than a four to five year gap in hardware. It's really the first time consoles have had the performance capabilities to last so long. I also believe that console manufacturers (at least with Microsoft and Sony) are realising that putting more money into the product from the start to allow them a longer life, is actually a better plan for both the industry and consumers. So, I don't expect to see the next Xbox (or PS3) until 2011, maybe announced next year, but not available until 2011.

For this years E3, I think there will be more big announcements since 2006, combined. Sure, we know of quite a few games on the upcoming list already, but there's been a lot of new studios formed in the wake of all the ones that were shut down. There's been a lot of projects cancelled or put on hold, for new projects that have yet to be unveiled. There's a lot of mystery behind a lot of projects from every party. Lets wait and see.

I'd like to let everyone know that www.GameTrailers.com will be streaming all of the Press Conferences throughout the week. There will be other sites as well, but GameTrailers should be the best. Microsoft's starts at 10:25am PST (12:25pm CST, 1:25pm EST), not sure about the others, you can check if interested.

Oh yeah! Forza 3 will kick ass! I love how they've created a video editing and uploading system, not to mention the Driver Cam, new game engine, 400 cars, the list goes on.

Halo 3: ODST looks really good as well, then there's Halo: Reach. Not much is known, but it definitely seems to be based off the novel Halo: The Fall of Reach.

Natal looks amazing, and the streaming 1080p will be a hard hitter for Americans. But the one thing that I've focused more of my hype towards is Splinter Cell: Conviction. Also, The Old Republic looks fantastic; FURTHERMORE, I'm playing through Mass Effect again, so the sequel looks to be nothing but ground breaking.

Can't wait for this holiday. We always say that the holiday will never get better than the previous year. Assassin's Creed 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Uncharted 2, Forza 3 and a ton of other amazing looking games are going to make this fall one of the best holidays ever. Hell, it might even restart the economy, haha.
