May 11, 2009 - Eidos Montreal confirmed it is working on Thief 4, which is spelled as Thi4f on the developer's website. This confirmation follows a story last week where the studio said they'd soon be unveiling a second project, which at the time was thought to be another Thief game thanks to previous hints. Eidos Montreal is also working on Deus Ex 3.

Stephane D'Astous, General Manager at Eidos Montreal, made the following comment on the company's site. "Were in the early development stages for Thief 4, but this is an incredibly ambitious project and a very exciting one. It's too early for us to offer any specific game details, right now we are focused on recruiting the very best talent to join the core team at the studio and help us make, what we believe will be one of the most exciting games on the market."

Aside from the logo, there isn't much in the way of imagery yet, though an official site and message board for Thief 4 is now live.

I never really got to be a big fan of the previous games, but I did enjoy Thief: Deadly Shadows.

Never played it, but I think I remember playing the demo on an old OXM disc. The game played a lot like splinter cell... just you steal shit! And then you fence it!

AWESOME!

The "Thief" series is THE most awesome games ever (and the Splinter Cell series probably wouldn't have come as soon if not for it)!

Thief: The Dark Project (later re-released as, "Thief Gold"), Thief II: The Metal Age and Thief: Deadly Shadows are really good games! I've played each of those games, on each difficulty all the way through... and I have been playing Thief Gold on my PC (again), from time to time. I haven't installed Thief II on my Windows XP system, but I can tell you that I could NOT install Thief Gold on it - it just wouldn't install under XP! Fortunately, I have multiple OS'es installed on my PC, so I was able to install it on my Windows 98 partition - and then it would run just fine from there OR my XP partition.

I wish MS could find a way to port them to the 360. Either all 3 Thief games as native 360 games (in a box set?) or each as an XBLA game - which I would GLADLY pay 1200 MS Points for (each)! BTW... Thief: Deadly Shadows IS backwards compatible with the 360, but there are some "visual" bugs (fire/smoke graphics) that detract from the game play that need fixing.

If you have a PC they will play on... the first two "Thief" games are worth picking-up - if you can locate a copy! If you have an original XBOX, then get Thief: Deadly Shadows for it - it plays perfectly on it. Otherwise, get the PC version. The graphic glitches when played on the 360 are slightly confusing, but not totally distracting (seeing the glow of torches through solid walls might make you waste a lot of water arrows trying to extinguish them).
My gamercard below links to xbox.com, so if you are logged-in to their web site, you can view my Xbox Profile... as well as my played games! Neat trick, huh?!!
