Red Faction: Guerrilla is a 3rd person, open-world action shooter set on Mars, 50 years after the events of the original Red Faction. Players take the role of an insurgent fighter with the newly re-established Red Faction movement as they battle for liberation from the oppressive Earth Defense Force. Throughout their fight for freedom, players carve their own path, wreaking havoc across the vast, open-world environment of Mars, from the desolate mining outpost of Parker to the gleaming EDF capital city of Eos.

Utilizing improvised weapons, explosives and re-purposed mining equipment and vehicles, Red Faction: Guerrilla allows players to tear through fully destructible environments in an unforgiving Martian landscape swarming with EDF forces, Red Faction resistance fighters, and the downtrodden settlers caught in the cross-fire. Red Faction: Guerrilla also features a robust multiplayer component, including several modes focused on destruction-based gameplay.

The demo is now available, I say we all download it and give it a go. I remember we had quite a good time back in the Beta, lets see if we still do. The game is set for a June 9th release date, so we should have plenty of time to see if we want to make it a purchase.

PS: The demo is single player.

Downloaded, hulk smashed, sold.

I'm there. June 9th = viva la revolution!

I loved the demo, and the beta earlier last year too. Can't wait for the 9th -- it'll be epic. The demo was fantastic, despite the time limit ( :( ) but what can you do? The framerate issues are there, but they almost add to the experience, giving you the smashing of entire buildings in a slow motion kind of imagery.

Please try this demo. It's AWESOME. .... and it's on Mars! FREAKIN' MARS!

Actually, they've moved the release date up a week, to June 2nd. But yeah, it will definitely be a purchase for me as well.

I dunno - I just tried it out, and yeah, the timer thing sucked because I was just messing around. If the game is like that, it's definitely not a buy for me because I HATE games that have timers, making you rush through a level...

Anyway, kinda neat for a third-person shooter, but how's the MP? Because the MP is the only reason I can see buying this game for, tbh.

Considering the game is in an open, free roaming world, I extremely doubt there's timers. There might be for some missions, but as a whole, no. The multiplayer is fairly fast-paced, and has the usual game modes associated with shooters: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Territories. I'm not really sure how much vehicals will be used in multiplayer. There weren't any in the Beta, but the maps were rather confined. As said previously, Rocky and myself enjoyed the multiplayer, but there are few games we don't. As always, if your not sure if you should purchase it, you can alway's rent it.

Totally a buy for me. I find myself screwing around and just blowing up charges on buildings for about 7-8 minutes, then hauling ass towards the mech and getting on that jeep.

Best rail shooting conclusion ever. Those jeeps get AIR.

The recent single-player demo for Red Faction: Guerrilla has been downloaded more than a million times already. Still, assuming you're tired of swinging sledgehammers in a vacuum, Volition and THQ will release a multiplayer demo over Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network on May 21.

The demo will highlight the game's "Damage Control" mode, as players work to build and rebuild key structures on a pair of included maps, using an assortment of nine weapons and five backpacks. 15 unlockable experience levels will also be included -- useful with Red Faction: Guerrilla set to ship on June 2 and ostrich hunting season just around the corner.

Sweetness.

Hopefully this time the demo won't bug out, a la closed beta last year. MMmmmm.... Super sledge.
