GTA IV's new expansion has been downloading on and off (see below) for the past 22 hours. I've gotten to the ultimate high of 23%.

Started the download shortly after 2am PST, and my 360 is yelling at me now. I get the following about every 20 mins (average)

The download could not be completed. Please try again later. Any points you
used for this transaction have already been deducted from your balance and
will not be deducted again.

Status Code: 80070185

Someone down there must really hate Canadians. Same thing happened with the Halo Wars demo, as well as the HAWX demo, which I haven't even played either yet. But NO, when I download something like an arcade trial version or a community game, it works fine.

Seems like priority is being given to some people for some reason. Can't say why.

Customer support didn't do jack shat -- saying that it's the fault of the console having a disc in the drive, or that I'm using a ROCK BAND or GUITAR HERO controller to initiate the download. Really. How many times do I have to say that I'm not using a guitar as a controller?

"What about a drum set?" -- XBCS

I think what they should have done, is realized that the fifty mil that went towards the exclusivity of this all-important DLC is obviously something that gamers would download. Supporting their servers or hosting providers for the 2,500,000 people that would be downloading it for day one. I just don't see myself using the console nearly as much as the content they say is exclusive would probably make it's way to other consoles by the time it's done downloading.

Serenity now. </rant>

Something that might help is if you port forward your 360. This sometimes makes your connection better which will allow you to download faster and hopefully lag less in game.

Google it, or check out the walkthrough I found easiest to follow.

I've already got him set up for port forwarding. The DGL-4100 makes it pretty simple, it also uses QoS to give his 360 priority over others. The problem could be with your ISP, Rocky. Have you tried downloading problem items on other 360's? Or at a friend's house on your 360?

The Xbox.com thread looks to have the average wait time around 3-4 hours. I'll try that forwarding thing, but my router's got a mind of it's own, and it loves my 360.

So I'll see.

Now, the good news is that I somehow downloaded the HAWX demo, which had the same error before -- would freeze up and give me the status code. ---- but paying my money right now for something I can get in two weeks -- especially in our economy at this day in age... well, I could have used that $20 for some better than waiting at a status line of 19%.

Gahhhhhh

Tried downloading the file today on my old 360, and no avail. Same error code, same slow-ass download time.

SERIOUSLY. More than 72 hours later and it's not let up? C'mon....
