What the title says. A little while back this Beta was released, intended for IT professionals to mess around with and find bugs. It closes relatively soon, so if you want to try, go now. I'm seriously considering giving it a shot on my other PC (the Aqua PC), just to check it out and whatnot. Maybe one of you guys have the resources to try it, too. Link |

I know that Vyise is totally digging it. I need to buy another internal hardrive before I can install this bad boy. But I totally will once I get around to getting the reserve space. Thoughts so far, anyone? |

I would have it installed if I too had the space, I've already got my 250Gb partitioned out three times. And Sinister is using the only other HDD I own, not to mention MY DVD Drive... But Vyise does already have it burned to a disk, so long as I grab another CD Key I should be able to install it at a later date. But yeah, from my conversations with Vyise, he loves it. Just like you've probably read elsewhere that it's already better than Vista, seems to be true. |

Nobody intelligent does Betas as a primary OS, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try it. Of course, I know you can't, from a severe lack of HDD space. But if you are able to, there's no reason why you shouldn't. It's a great way to experience what the next OS will be like, and a chance for you to suggest idea's and/or give feedback about what's already there. Which is really what a Beta is meant for. |

Wow, partitioning totally skipped my mind. I could partition the 250gb HD on my pc and install it and have no worries! Muahahaha! |

Also, one more advantage about Betas is that you can use the OS for FREE. You can't really check it out in depth if it's at retail, because then you have to buy it. |

Okay so I did what I said I was gonna do. Partitioned my AquaPC and plopped Windows 7 on it. So far so good. I haven't encountered any major problems yet. It has a few issues, such as when you download + install a theme from the net, the computer restarts with no warning... I don't like that. I'm sure those are the types of bugs they'll fix for the final release. Other than that it's totally awesome. It seems like Microsoft took a hint from Macintosh. Things are a lot easier and cleaner. I'll put up some screenshots when the oil in my rig cools down =p |

My brother made me get it. I just cleared my old harddrive and got an ISO burned on to a DVD and installed it on my computer. It's now my primary OS.  So far it's all good, except when I try to install my sound card's driver I get the BSOD.

Aah, you shouldn't have installed it as your primary. I hope you have another pc/laptop. What I did was partition my HD with PartitionMagic 8.0, then used 7zip to extract all the files in the ISO and ran the setup file on my partitioned drive. Worked like a charm, no DVD burner needed, and I got to keep everything I had on my C: drive =] Edited by saucey feet, Jan 31 2009, 06:50 AM.
