The NXE hits November 19th this year, and there's going to be some major changes on the Xbox 360 to make it bigger, better and more badass (Thanks, Cliff)! I was thinking to myself when I was talking to Zypher (who got into the preview program!) what the coolest thing was about the NXE, and what some of the drawbacks were.... Give us your feedback now and after the NXE releases!

What are your expectations / impressions of the NXE?

Feel free to use this thread as a general discussion thread for the NXE, too!

I'm expecting a lot. I'm hoping that the in-game guide isn't as slow as the current blade system (hopefully it's a LOT faster). I want it to be intuitive and not require too much searching to find what I need. I'm excited to be able to make a chat room party thing and go into games so I don't have to hear the other team! There's so much goodness coming!

Damn forty9, that sucks, try to get the error code and find out just what happened. Here's a link on how to figure it out: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=484726.

As for the NXE, I can say that the new Guide (aka Mini Blades) is smoother and faster overall. There's still some pauses when viewing friends and their info, but that's just because it's waiting for the data. My favorite current feature is HDD Installs, it's just so much quiter (and I have one of the more quite drives in the Elites). But I still think my favorite feature will be the new Party System, just haven't been able to test it yet since I'm the only one here who has it.

That new gamercard looks amazing, too Zypher. Looks like Avatars will become mainstream for everyone, hopefully.

If there's anything you'd guys like to know a bit more about, or see pictures of, just let me know. I'll check it out and take some pictures if requested (except for the Netflix integration).

I noticed today that it now tells you what game somebody invites you to. It's a nice little touch that I like.

PS: If you managed to sign-up for the NXE Preview Program, and had a valid Console ID, you might want to turn on or reset your console. Because Major Nelson just revealed that everyone who signed-up now has access to it.

It's the coolest. Major update from last live version -- basically what I would expect on their next console! HELL YEAH!

I'm installing Mass Effect, Fable 2, CoD:WaW, CoD4 and Fallout right now. I heart memory space.

I just got a new TV too. Stay tuned for pictures. Real nice way to show off the new features of the NXE. This is awesome.

Can I get some idea of how much room games take up on the HD? I don't know if I can fit very many games on there

It really depends on the game, but so long as it's a single disc game, it won't be more than 9Gb.

Besides quicker loading times is there really any advantage to loading it on your HD? I mean, that's a lot of specae to take up especially no just the 20GB version. It still requires the disc though right?

you still need the disc with every game I tried (all 2 of them). I didn't notice a difference in the load times of lost odyssey but I didn't play long or really pay attention. At current I really don't see the point.

While yes, you do still need the disc, when you have it copied to memory, the system doesn't spin the disc. This allows the system to run MUCH more quietly. The load times are slightly improved, but the greatest thing about it is the silence

Most games should benefit from slightly faster load times, but it really depends on the game. I know Fable II loads at least 5 seconds faster, which is a good amount. Then there are games that it doesn't help at all, pointing towards Halo 3, which actually takes longer to load from the HDD.

But yes, the best reason to do this is the silence. When my 360 runs a game that's not installed, I can hear it over my PC, which has 5 times the fans, all running at about 1,800 RPM. And the reason for having the disk in the tray is simple, authorization. It shows that you own/rented the game.

I don't think that installing games on to the HDD is a good enough reason to go out and upgrade your HDD, but if you have the 120 already, why not. Most games these days are seamless and have very few load points here and there. Plus, I can't hear my 360 over my sound because I usually have it up so loud and even when I do hear it, I'm kind of used to it so it's just like there, but I don't notice it. Anyways, for right now I don't see it as that amazing, but possibly in the future when developers start utilizing this and put it to full effect. Like Zypher said, when Bungie made Halo 3 they weren't aware of this, so with the way the designed its loading, it takes less time to load from CD to HDD than to install it and load from HDD to some other spot on your HDD.
