So, I'm going to my first concert this afternoon to see Five Finger Death Punch. I really don't know much about them and I've only heard one of their songs, but they sound pretty good. A bunch of my friends are going and it's only $25 because my friend's girlfriend's dad has hookups, haha. Anyone heard of these guys though? I'll tell you how it went when I get back around 12 tonight!

They sound pretty good. Expect mosh pit haha! I would almost never pay $25+ to see a show, unless it was some completely kick ass band. Most of the shows I go to are like $5 or less lmao |

What bands do you see for five bucks? Most tickets for shows here are no less than $30, usually a good amount more for good seats or floor position. |

Only BIG bands are more than 30 (green day and muse some to mind) most are like 20. Dragonforce was 20 i think. |

E, I guess I don't really see mainstream bands live. I saw Thursday not long ago and the tickets were only $7. Sweet show too. |

A freakin' awesome band that got pretty popular after growing up pretty close to where I live. They're more of a punkish emo kinda band. Give them a listen! |

FFDP had an acoustic session at Best Buy before the show, they're great acoustic. And the show..oh my god, that was insane. Yea, I moshed, it was crazy. Only during Bury Your Dead though because there were people moshing during them that weren't freakin beasty huge dudes, During the other bands everyone was buff and huge. I got to freakin' body surf! It was crazy! The security guard had to catch me. And the mosh during FFDP was almost the entire floor, I had to run out to the edges. I got stuff signed by Bury Your Dead, In This Moment, Soul Crisis (local band) and FFDP. All the dudes from FFDP signed their CD I bought and I even got to shake the guitarist's hand...yea. Anyways, my neck hurts, I'm tired, and I'm going to another show today. Good stuff. |

Yeah, But all the emo kids call them "shows" and it bugs me lol. And to Saucy Thursday is a pretty kick ass band. A lil to emo for my tastes though. Edited by Vyise, Nov 18 2008, 09:52 PM.

Lol, you got a beef with emo music or something? It's a reaaaally broad category that contains a lot of really good music. Sunny Day Real Estate? Texas is the Reason? If you're really that against a genre of music just cause of the stereotypes that go along with it... you're missing out =[ |

I see, then yea... you're just using the common stereotype of emo kids and applying it to music. Emo music isn't exactly what you think it is, it's a lot more. Emo is a blend of hardcore punk with a little pop mixed in. It's short for Emotional Hardcore, which a LOT of bands fall into the category. If you ever listened to 30 Seconds to Mars, you wouldn't think they were emo. Jimmy Eat World? Yep, emo. Glassjaw? Try listening to them! They too, are emo. But they don't just sing about killing themselves and whatever else you classified emo as. Now, what you're thinking of are the select few bands that kill emo as a genre. Bands like Dashboard Confessional or Further Seems Forever... I can't stand them (well, I lie... I like Further Seems Forever, but DC... god I hate them), but they sit in the genre of music that I listen to most. Try listening to the bands in the first paragraph. I guarantee you'll like at least one of them, putting this convo to bed =P |

Then perhaps they need a new sub genre of rock. |

Vyise didn't say he applied his definition of emo kids to any music that is defined emo, he just doesn't like emo kids. My definition of emo kids are the kids that wear all black, sit against the wall at lunch by their selves, are extremely anti-social, and wear purple pants sometimes. Anyways, just because some retarded sterotype labels some of these bands emo doesn't mean it's true. There just isn't enough genres to define the kind of modern music we have. |
