Microsoft is introducing the Zune “Gears of War 2” Special Edition 120GB device with preorders going live today in U.S. at Amazon.com and Walmart.com. The special edition devices will also be available online at Amazon.ca, BestBuy.ca, FutureShop.ca and TheSource.ca in Canada, for an estimated retail price of $279.99 (U.S./CDN), and will begin shipping to customers starting Nov. 7th.

In celebration of the sequel to one of the best-selling Xbox franchises of all time, Xbox and Epic Games have collaborated with Zune to create this unique portable media player. The Zune “Gears of War 2” Special Edition is based on the new Zune 120 GB and features a laser-etched Crimson Omen on the new gloss black enclosure, collectible “Gears of War” packaging, and 244 pieces of “Gears of War” media including the original game soundtrack, behind-the-scenes videos, game trailers and concept art galleries.

More information on Zune and related images are available at http://www.zune.net/press. For the latest on “Gears of War 2” and its Nov. 7th worldwide launch, visit www.gearsofwar.com.

So, is anyone looking for a new PMP? I recommend getting this one! I have a 1st Gen Zune 30GB, and wish I could pick this one up, but don't really need it. All Zune's have the same feature set (exception: only the large players have Home A/V ability); music, podcasts, videos, radio, wireless, radio tagging, and with the introduction of Ver. 3.0, Games!

I would get it if there was a Halo edition, but not a Gears one. I have the 2nd gen Zune 80GB, and I love it. I only have 40GB worth of stuff on it, but I'm working on it!

There was a 30GB Halo Edition, but they're really hard to find, and will most likely cost more than this new GoW 2 one.

30GB just won't cut it for me. I'm halfway through the 80GB and I add more every day. Otherwise I would look for one :P

I have an iPod Nano myself, but I hate it, so bad. Well, I more hate the fact that you HAVE to go through iTunes to get music on it. I'm not sure if it's the same for Zune or not, but either way I don't like iTunes on my computer, at all (zomg bias alert). I so want the GoW 2 edition Zune, really bad. But one, I don't and won't have the money. And two, I could never fill it up. I'm still going to try to convince my parents to get it for me for Christmas.

I had an iRiver which was WMP based, but I never really got how their syncing worked. I'm an iTunes kinda guy anyway.... When it comes to Apple, I think that their audio stuff is just stunning. From garageband to the iPod, which I currently use (would still be using my old one, but I smashed it in a car door...), I think that the iPod is perfect...

But that's not to say that the Zune is great though -- never really played around with one before. A friend at work got one, but took it back because it didn't have a clock on it.... kinda retarded... He got an iPhone instead.

How long ago did he get it? Because they have clocks now. I'm just heavily against companies that believe and sell thier items as trendy, at an inflated price. Plus, I've always hated iTunes...Never...Ever...Liked...It.

Another thing Zune has is the Social, which lets your share and show what you're listening to with your friends. Kinda like Xbox Live for music. Here's mine.

Well, I'm not going to deny the iPod is a fine piece of hardware, I just don't think it's fair that the Zune gets so overlooked. I mean the common name for MP3 players in general these days are "iPods." But hey, Microsoft can't have it all! Only 95% of everything. ;)

I like the color scheme, but I'm moving all of my portable media over to a 120gb iPod Classic once I get a new Macbook in the coming months. The seamless communication between iTunes on a Mac(it runs like shit on Windows) and an iPod is unparalleled.
