Here's some 2 player c-op game play footage from Call of Duty: World at War. It can go up to 4 player co-op online. I might consider buying this game now. I'm not interested in just another WW2 game, ya know? Watch it in HD (Much better quality) Edited by SpartanSinister, Aug 9 2008, 02:35 PM.

I began watching this last night -- but it looked really good from the first screens and stuff. I'm not going to really cover too much on the content for the singleplayer games this year because I'd like to be kinda shocked when that planed exploded killing my teammates. But that Keifer Sutherland voice acting makes me feel safe.... "DO YOU HAVE THE OVERRIDE?!" -Jack Bauer. |

Totally man.... and it's throughout the entire game too -- I just hope they have something like what Gears 2 is doing with Hoarde, where you and a few buddies try to hold out as long as you can as waves of enemies come at you... PS: beat your waves score.

Wow, I worked so hard for that waves score, too. I suck at waves =[ And horde in CoD would be wicked. |

It would actually make quite a bit of sense, with the whole Kamikaze tactic of the Japanese. |

Sure would. I'd be down for that -- I can still remember kicking some major ass in the first GRAW. There was a map that was set so when you played base defense that there were only 3 main routes that the AI would take. Thornes and I would hold out for about 20 minutes, tops and then they'd just infiltrate and destroy us all... Good times. I would imagine it'll be just as hectic in Gears -- perhaps not as dense as the GRAW defense, but an assload bloodier. Can't wait! Plus, there's bot support which I'm really pumped for. Afterall, I hardly even touched the online competitive side of Gears 1. I played a little before it turned to Halo, but that was.... well.... before it turned to Halo. : / |

That's a kickass video, and only solidifies my buying this. Unlike most people, I actually like WW2 games so I already had the game in my sights... The only hesitation I had (and still do, tbh) is: Treyarch. |

This looks good. Flamethrower should be nice. Read that this was pretty graphic like losing body parts and guys begging not to be shot. 4 player coop should be excellent. |

Apparently there should be a beta in October, similar to the CoD4 beta, it's mutliplayer and should sport a few maps and a couple game modes.... I hope I don't have to a) preorder the game to get in, b) be American c) pay anything, or wait for a server failure at 11:59pm on CharlieOscarDelta.com... |

Aw hell. I see this is gonna be nothing but a carbon copy of CoD4, but with different AI skins, huh? Perks are retarded. |

yeah, the coop is what I'm really looking forward to. I don't think I've actually played competitively on Live in months, with exception to the weekly GRAW nights I do. The coop does look pretty kickass. |

PERKS! I can't believe that you guys don't like them! Without perks it would just be any other game. Perks allow you to try a combination that works, and gives people almost a pseudo-personality. I love being in a game, and I notice a dude sniping, so I change my class to a silent UAV jammer, sneak around all sneaky like, and POW! Right in the kisser. These perks look sweet. A lot of the same, but there's nothing wrong with that. Stick to what works. I wish they did that with Super Smash Bros: Brawl for the Wii. |

Well, I don't hate all perks. Some of them are good ideas. It's things like Juggernaut and Martydom that are dumb. They're unrealistic. Stopping power makes sense, blowing yourself up when you die so you can't be recognized doesn't. Just my opinion. |

I guess I see it differently. All of the perks have their own story in my head, and they all make sense. Now that I'm thinking about it, I wanna make a list of the perks and why they make sense! Here goes muahaha. PERK 1 C4 x2 - well... no explanation. You get to carry 2 C4's instead of something else. Special Grenades x3 - Same as above. RPG x2 - Saaaaame Claymore x2 - .......... Bandolier - Bandolier is actually the term used in the olden days. It was the belts of ammo that people could sling around their shoulders. Look it up! Bomb Squad - A dude with some high tech gear that can find bombs. I love this perk for search & destroy. PERK 2 Stopping Power - some kind of advanced tech bullets. They exist. Maybe a bigger caliber or something? Juggernaut - Juggernaut is a ferocious opponent. One of those strong war leaders that despite being hit in the arm, taking an arrow in the abdomen, and being slashed across the leg by a knife, he screams his warcry and continues to fight with all his might! Sleight of Hand - The man is an expert with guns. He can disassemble and reassemble his m16 in under 10 seconds! Double Tap - This one I don't understand... I've never heard of a gun that shoots twice as fast as it's stock version. Overkill - you sacrifice all these other awesome perks to carry around another gun. sweeeet R700 + silent mp5 UAV Jammer - they exist I think. High tech gadgets rule. Sonic Boom - KABOOM! Pack that powder into those explosives! PERK 3 Extreme Conditioning - High school track star! Steady Aim - makes your shooting from the hip 35% more accurate. I guess a person with this perk would have to practice shooting without scoping. I love this perk for my SMG's. Last Stand - He takes a hit in the leg, tumbles, falls, and gets hit in the chest on the way down. He drops his weapon after taking another shot in the arm. With his one good arm and the last of his strength, he pulls out his pistol and takes aim at the nearest enemy, before finally dropping dead. Martyrdom - Our hero got hit in the middle of battle, badly wounded, miles from his own camp, with enemies all around. So he pulls the pin on his last frag, and waits... BOOM! He takes out himself and two enemies, a true hero......... then he respawns haha. Deep Impact - This technology exists, bullets that can penetrate walls. Freakin' sweet. Iron Lungs - a practiced sniper that can really hold his breath long in order to wait out a target. Dead Silence - NINJA! Eavesdrop - more tech stuff that exists nowadays. So yea, that's my view on the perks and why I like them, in a nutshell. Every perk adds personality to the character. Some are annoying, especially when they counter your perks, but that's what makes it awesome! I could have made this REALLY long, but I figured I'd spare ya's. I think I think too much about these things! Edited by saucey feet, Sep 29 2008, 02:22 AM.

True that most of the "Perks" are viable in the real world, but not in a couple of contexts. Juggernaut: A real life Juggernaut would most likely just be a heavily armored soldier, but would have the side effect of more weight slowing him down. In CoD, you get the advantage of more health, but no disadvantage of the slow movement. If your movement speed was slowed, then it would be a fair perk. Martyrdom: Sure, if you want to blow yourself the #$%^ up in a desperate situation, go right ahead. Just make sure you actually have a grenade on you to do so. In CoD, you somehow pull this magical grenade out of your a@$, after you've already used all your grenades. This perk shouldn't work unless you have a grenade still on your body. All the others are pretty fair, but I'd still rather play without perks. If the game is done correctly, you wouldn't need them. |

Eh, in the case of juggernaut, the fact that you sacrifice such a valuable perk like stopping power should be enough. If you want added weight for that, then you should add weight for things like RPG x2 as well. There's a balance to it, and the sense also comes from my idea stated in my previous post. The fact that your character isn't visually effected means that maybe you don't have extra armor. Maybe you're just a beast of a human being with the strength, determination, and ferocity to take a few extra hits and keep moving. But like I said, the sacrifice is there in that while you can take extra hits, it also takes YOU more hits to get a kill, thus depleting ammo faster, blah blah balance. It seems to me like you only have a beef with Juggernaut and Martyrdom. 2 perks shouldn't be enough to completely turn you off to perks. Without them it just wouldn't be CoD... it would be... Gears... without the curb stomping... |
