Okay everyone, with the influx of online multiplayer games this year I think it's time for people to get ride of their old, problematic routers. And D-Link just so happens to have the best routers, targeted for us gamers, that prioritize our games above that of anything else. So let me introduce you to the D-Link Gamer Lounge Series, starting with why these routers stand above the rest.

Now, these routers aren't cheap, they're some of the more expensive models out there, but they're worth it.

The DGL-4100 > Broadband Gigabit Gaming Router

If you're not interested in having a wireless network then this is the one for you. It was the first in the series and is the best 4-port Gigabyte Wired Router available. This is the router I personally own, and have recommended to numerous people.

Since this is the oldest and most basic model, cause it's wired only, it's obviously the least expensive. The current average price is between $110-$130.

PS: I will be updating this post with the other two models ASAP.

The DGL-4300 > Wireless 108G Gaming Router

If you're looking for a wireless solution, you can't beat this model for it's price. It uses a 5dBi high-gain antenna for exceptional wireless signal coverage. And it's only a tad more than the DGL-4100 at an average price of $130-$150.

The DGL-4300 supports most network standards:

  • IEEE 802.11g
  • IEEE 802.11b
  • IEEE 802.3
  • IEEE 802.3u
And supports these Wireless Signal Rates:

  • D-Link 108G: 108Mbps
  • 54Mbps
  • 48Mbps
  • 36Mbps
  • 24Mbps
  • 18Mbps
  • 12Mbps
  • 11Mbps
  • 9Mbps
  • 6Mbps
  • 5.5Mbps
  • 2Mbps
  • 1Mbps
Also with it being wireless, it comes with a few extra security protocols, so people can't jack your connection.

  • Protect your wireless data with support for both Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) and 128-bit Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP)
  • Disable SSID Broadcast and MAC Filtering features protect against unauthorized access from your wireless network

There's also the latest addition, the DGL-4500. It uses 802.11n, as well as .11b and .11g. But if you don't plan to or already have any Wireless-N devices, it's not worth the price.
