WizKids Inc., creator of runaway hit games like HeroClix, Pirates of the Spanish Main and Mage Knight, have announced an agreement with Bungie Studios and Microsoft to develop a new collectible miniatures game (CMG) called Halo ActionClix.

The Halo ActionClix CMG brings the incredible content of the Halo universe to the tabletop via the award-winning Clix miniatures game engine. Players familiar with HeroClix and HorrorClix will be able to jump right into the action and enjoy brand-new game mechanics, including weapon swaps, figure respawning and vehicle-based combat.

Expanding the Halo universe into the Clix CMG world is a perfect fit for the franchise, said Brian Jarrard, director of Franchise and Community Affairs at Bungie Studios. WizKids commitment to quality and authentic detail ensures that these new Halo ActionClix figures will appeal to collectors and CMG players alike.

The first Halo ActionClix set will feature more than 80 unique miniature figures from the Halo universe, including preview content from Halo 3. A number of vehicle packs are also being produced, including a big surprise planned for San Diego Comic-Con this July. Figures will be sold in randomized Booster Packs. The vehicles and a Starter Game will be sold in a diorama display format.

We are proud to be associated with a great brand like Halo, said Lax Chandra, WizKids president. We are always looking for ways to push the envelope with our games and content. The phenomenal Halo video game play and universe provided us with an excellent spring board for innovation in tabletop miniatures gaming. We are very excited about this release.

The Halo ActionClix CMG is expected to be released at retail in September 2007, with special Prerelease figures available at San Diego Comic-Con July 26-29, and at Gen Con Indy August 16-19.

I think this is totally awesome! I used to play Mage Knight and I loved it. Well, up until all my best and most valuable pieces were stolen. Which were a set of eight different Draconum's, some of the most sought after pieces, they were even custom painted, with a total value of over $400...

But enough with that,. I'll definitely be getting me some HaloClix!

I'm not familiar with "Clix"... I assume that theyre minuature figures that you paint and customize yourself? If that's the case, I'll have to try it out!

Could you give us the lowdown on how much the paints and/or figures are? I know they don't come out for a while, but I'm just curious!

Thanks!

The "Clix" series that WizKidz Inc. created is a more simplified version of games such as Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000. And about 3x cheaper too.

As for prices. The Mage Knight Starter Kits cost $30, which included 10 figures (9 of the 10 pieces are predetermined and 1 random), the rule book, measuring tape, counters and dice. Then there are the booster packs, which included 4-6 random figures, depending on the size of the pieces, and those usually cost $5-$10 for the newest series'. There's also stand alone pieces you can buy, which are usually the largest pieces (for example: the vehicles in HaloClix will probably be these). And those can be quite costly (depending on the rarity, abilities and stats of the piece) but expect to pay at least $10 for each of these pieces.

The figures do come prepainted, but you can re-paint them yourself. And so long as the paint job is good, the value of the piece shouldn't really diminish among players, but it might for collectors.
