So, as you will see in the next few weeks, we will be making some slight changes to some portions of the site. These will (hopefully) all improve the site for the better, making the experience more user-friendly. However, that hopefully will not be the end of the line for changes that we make. So, my question is 2-fold. 1.) What things would you like to see on the site? Mention anything that is humanly possible, and we'll talk about it. We'll look into it, and if we think it could enhance the experience for others, we will do it. (The only thing that is currently a definite "no" is BOA videos.) 2.) What can we do to make sure you'll come back more than once? What can we add/enhance to make sure you come back in the offseason? Let us know.

I know this is a marching website, but I think especially for the off-season, if there was a concert band aspect that might help to sustain or even enhance the number of users. People could discuss putting together commissions, what literature they're doing, and discuss contests/festivals like IMEA, Chicagoland, ISU, and Superstate. I mean, I also see the side that this is ilMARCHING.com, not ilCONCERT.com, but it's just a suggestion. Any thoughts on this? |

We're discussing this. The problem with this is, we don't have a staff big enough to cover all the shows, and if I'm sent videos for a on-site video player, I unfortunately don't have the time to encode all of the videos. IM.com had to encode 127 1 minute clips this weekend. That's a lot of work. I've recently become good friends with the IM.com staff, and I'm thinking about "borrowing" some of their ideas for our site. |

i think all the ideas (concert band, videos, winter line/guard) are great. i would especially like to see some winter drumline/ winterguard stuff on the site, since you really dont get to see a lot if you arent actively involved in the groups. |

I'm about to have a lot more involvement with the activity, so I will see what I can do and find out who is competing within the state. |

What would you guys think about an online store, like CafePress.com? We've been discussing selling things like hats, t-shirts/polos/sweatshirts, etc. |

GOOD IDEA. I'd buy stuff. And then we could all recognize each other in the real world. Oh the possibilities. |

The large problem with CafePress is items on the site can get rather pricey. CafePress charges a base price (which they take), and then to make a profit, you have to charge a "markup price" (which you get). For example: Dark T-shirt Base price: $18.99 Markup: 1.01 Total: $20.00 We would get the markup, CafePress would get the rest. So basically what I'm trying to say is: Does anyone know a website similar to CafePress that isn't nearly as expensive? Note: We're not really in this for the money. The "profit" that we would make would be to go for items to further the site, such as admission to events we attend. |
