Lots of great changes lately - especially on the nostalgia factor. I wonder how much of these changes Eric Gilbert is behind.... Seems like they've all remotely happened since he took the reins. (I'm sure corporate isn't going to him saying put the Whale back! bring back the indoor scrambler!) So far, for the first time in awhile, the park seems to be in good hands. It's exciting. |

also with fireworks and the Canyon blaster backwards... I really hope all these changes make an impact on revenue and attendance - reinforcing Gilbert's changes.

It is very nice to see everything. Everything he is doing is the right thing to do. He made the parks worst roller coaster a exciting new attraction. And he brought back the fan favorite scrambler. Although Blizzard is nothing compared to chippers but it is still better than being outside. I really hope they expand the lighting system in the dome it was kind of plain. |

I've yet to ride Blizzard yet so i'll give my opinion on it afterwards. Love what Eric Gilbert has done for the park this year, but I still want to see how he is going to handle future additions-actual additions-including next year, assuming were getting a "larger" attraction. |

I don't think that they are going to let this anniversary slip by like the 50th did |

I'm no insider... but its the same thing every year. Every year for the past ten years people online have been saying "This is the year we get the big coaster! This is the year big things happen! this is the year we get flagged!" It's obvious the park will never be... huge. Were never going to get a giant coaster - height restrictions, sound restrictions (bobsled closing early) Really the best that can be done are little improvements. One day we'll get a new roller-coaster, but were not getting an Intamin mega coaster or anything crazy. Something small and innovative that fits a given footprint in all three dimensions. Even being year 60, I highly doubt we'll see a major change for next year. Honestly 1 good new thrilling flat would be the best direction. A Technical Park Loop Fighter might look out of place at the park but its really not as big as it looks - it might be able to barely fit on the old blizzard pad, though the fences might need to be expanded a bit. A Loop fighter is like just over 50' X 50', more like 55-60 and that pad for the blizzard is about the same at like 60-65' in diameter.... not really a high capacity ride though hahaha |

balloon race is in blizzards spot so that's off the table. And i disagree with you I think they will get a major addition this year. While its not going to be a huge b&m or intamin it will be something thrilling |

And it can't be moved back? I don't see why thats off the table. Why does that change have to be permanent? I don't think it is, it's a little tiny for that spot. I don't think its even on their current map - but that was just on some photos someone posted. The Scrambler is living proof that the park doesn't mind returning rides to their old locations ;) Edited by cometman20, Jun 18 2013, 09:35 PM.

I just think that they wouldn't have wasted that much time to move it just for one year |

A few years ago if I remember correctly, they moved the flying trapeze from its location near the chairlift out to right in front of the comet, and they did this mid season! I forget the logistics... Idk if it was maintenance - on the ride or on its platform, painting, just seeing what would happen... I never saw it in the park by the comet so to me it was all rumor, but they moved it over there like the final month or so of the season, and then put it back the next season. I don't know why! haha. Rides like the the flying trapeze though, and the balloon race, are not park models but touring carnival models. They are easy to take apart and move around if needed. The balloons had a great location over the water, and as far as I know, or can think of, I don't see any negative for it to be at that location. I think the park and the corporation is just evaluating different plans throughout the year, and I wont be surprised to see them move the balloon race back (or remove it from the park) if they find a nice flat they like that would fit the old scrambler platform. I think that it was just a plan to move the Flying Trapeze to this location in front of the Comet, and the hardware is still there to do it (there's some trees in the way now), but I don't believe the move actually happened, however, I could be wrong, someone correct me if I am. But I do not see them moving the Balloon Race back to it's original location unfortunately. There was a reason for them moving it in the first place (low ridership), and it looks to be a little busier this year in its new spot so I'd expect it to hang around there for a while. I actually doubt that the old spot will be used for anything unfortunately. It is in a weird place, separated from all of the other rides, and even though rides look great there, I just don't see it happening. Besides, they were using the spot for a line for season pass processing earlier in the season, and they definitely needed the space for the line. |

And honestly, a big new flat in that location (or really any location) would be great for a 60s anniversary. The Larson flying scooters is cute to say the least haha, and I have no bashing towards that addition, but a really thrilling make you stare at it flat ride for the 60th like a loop fighter would be big in my book for the park, because I doubt your going to see them do something like take down the bobsled, take out the go-karts, and move the pirate ship to put in a huge roller coaster as everyone hopefully predicts year in and year out. Granted, i've heard that once again the bobsleds paint job looks awful - so the park doesn't want to put any new investment into it. They're also not going to build a coaster where the picnic grove is... thats always #2 suggestion because "no one uses that anyways" hahaha... I actually eat there every year for a corporate event... the place is always busy, like 3/4 groups a day, and its actually very well done. It's a win-win situation for the park and the companies. We pay less than the general admission, free parking and free food at the picnic area, and the food there is actually great, best food in the park. All you can eat buffet style. |

ahhh Yea... I didn't think of that. It's really odd how an area so close to the entrance got so low ridership - but I guess if you've never been to the park before you can easily not notice it. I also agree its a weird spot, but it will look strange year in and year out as an empty spot. Slightly depressing. However I really can't see anything going in that location besides the balloon ride. I wonder how much longer of a life the Flying Trapeze is... granted its different from the Larson Flying scooters but its another swing ride and the 'outdated one.' Heck we have three - don't forget decapitated Taz... Obviously the Flying Trapeze is another example of 'great fit' with its location, but could the Trapeze go and the balloon ride move to that spot? The scrambler pad is just a great location for an iconic ride. |

Yeah the picnic grove makes huge amounts of money for the park they are not moving. I dont see them removing anything this year just because bobsled would take alot of time to take down which mean it would have to close in July which we would have known by now. |
