what generated more cash, TGE or the taxes collected on the property near the park? I would make a uneducated guess that TGE is a huge plus for the community and should be allowed to grow and make more cash thus more tax money!

That's what I was thinking of. Alice while I believe it has been repainted need to be cleaned up a bit. They could keep the charm but update it to be more exciting. a simple animatronic so that a few characters have some life to them.

paint and clean up the story book sets it's one small area of the park.

If Story Land can upgrade and expand bu still keep it's fair tail area along with keeping much of it's nostalgia so can TGE.

The only way to figure that out would be to divide the cost per acre. I'm sure all the businesses are paying the same amount and per acre places like the neighboring hotel likely pay more.

Anyways, the city has not put up a huge fight for additions. The neighbors slow thins down a bit. Like stated it's SFI's Interest in the park that has kept additions few and far between and saddled then with Used coasters.

Hell A carnival can make money. any park can make money as long as their operation costs are lower then their take.

Thing is Small parks ina chain get pushed aside. Let me go back to Storyland. When teh park was family owned since 1990 the park got something new every year.

  • a capital addition for example a custom themed shooting gallery
  • notable rehab - removal of an iconic building to a similar but updated building that could better handle growing crowds, Building a Electric Driven Pumpkin Coach to replace the gas one.
  • Or addition - they added 2 new themed areas a sea shore area and a farm. They in that time added a ride every other year and in the last 6 years of ownership added a ride every year.

Now since selling to Kennywood and Kennywood selling to Parques Reunidos, They have seen little to nothing. In 5 years they have added very little.a pop jet fountain was one of the biggest additions. The park has added one ride and they cut an existing safari ride in half to add it. they loopy labs Iconic Cannon, A remnant of the original dark ride was removed in it's place a store and 2 midway games.

The park has seen little else. They added a new Costume character a leftover costume form Dutch wonderland.

Yea Six Flags is the best company for tge at the moment. The park can only get bigger and better with new rides every year. And a bigger TGE means a bigger attendence which means bigger and better rides

It's hard to say. In Storylands case it's the smallest. LC and Kennywood are the best parks. TGE is more on pare with LC and Kennywood.

With new management I think we will see more and on a more regular basis. What is hard to say. but No mater what they do they will be the smallest.

Well lets look at it this way....

During the PARC Management sell off when SFI was selling a few of their parks, TGE wasn't even on the list of park to be sold...but Magic Mountain was.....SFI ended up deciding not to sell Magic Mountain but my point is they were willing to sell Magic Mountain and not willing to sell TGE.

TGE is a money maker for the company... 850,000 guests per year is a good number for TGE. It's a tourist destination. Tourists are stupid. Tourists have money. Once again, tourists are stupid and pay full admission rather than finding better deals. Tourists buy merchandise and food in the park.

If the wanted to sell TGE, why would they have build a huge hotel, with a pretty large indoor waterpark? (Btw, my uncle was part of the construction crew for the lodge so i myself got to see some first hand construction pictures when everything was being built...It was very neat)

TGE makes money for them to spend on other parks. How do you think GADV and Magic Mountain get all these huge additions and have years with 3-4 rides added at once? Because TGE, and all the other parks make them money for them to spend on other parks.

I just don't agree with that statement at all. It just doesn't make sense to me.

So is this topic dead? we have gone about the nostalgia of the park to Sales and it's relevance within SFI. I think it's a good topic. start one talk about it. let this topic stay on topic.

How is Comets station run down? That station is the station from the Crystal Beach Cyclone, and they restored it when it came to TGE.

They did however build a whole new castle and it looks 10X better than the old one.

The castle looks great, the little houses could use a little paint but ive noticed some being painted slowly, only a few at a time. They also could use something new where the petting zoo used to be to revitalize the area but thats not entirely necessary either.
