Here we can discus the history of the 2 parks and the focus given to each and the rides they have seen over the years.
benbutterman4 'The inspiration for this thread'

The thing i dont get is when six flags bought six flags new england they were very similar. They had thunderbolt and cyclone and they also had a water park. when six flags bought tge we had comet a water park and stemin demon.

You cant tell me that sfne was more thrilling then the great escape in the 90's. So i dont get why sfne got mind earser, superman and batman. while tge got boomerange bobsled and canyon blaster.

six flags man 'response from other thread'

Six Flags New England did have other Thrill rides as well, but it has really always been a more thrill oriented park. I still do not understand why anybody is complaining about the new addition, it is the perfect fit for the park and can truly be enjoyed by everyone who chooses to ride it. People simply need to give it a chance.

I find the biggest difference seems to be the 2 town make up of TGE vs SFNE's one...less rules to follow I believe. It seems our park has less friendly neighbors!
But in the 90's TGE was kinda a great little park and for me was a once or twice kinda place my family went. Now with season pass's maybe we all go too much and grow out of the rides quicker.

I remember sane when it was Riverside. They were two different parks. Storytown was nothing like Riverside, but I enjoyed them both. I just feel that Storytown, if it kept up with the technology could of been closer to what Disney is. I understand that they don't have the space as Disney, or the yearly nice weather. I just feel it was a lost opportunity to do something special.

If Mr.wood came back today he would be horrified with jungle land and ghost town

I wish that they would go through all of those buildings and knock them down and rebuild them. Six flags should sell the to Disney they would be great at Adding attrection that arnt rides

The parks were and still are very different. TGE in the 90's form what I understand as a medium sized park with a slight mix of kiddie and light thrills. It had a small water park and like today primarily catered to tourists.

SFNE in the 90's was like today New England Largest park. there was no water park that was added at he end of the decade after it was bought by premier. it did have a selection of water slides were Blizzard River sits today. It needed to offer more to get the locals and more importantly to get people to drive the 1-2 hours it took to get from locations like Werchester and Boston.

I'll post more comparisons later.

If mr. Wood came back today, he would be much more happier with how Fantasy Island turned out than the Great Escape.

No the point he is making is that they aren't. SFNE had many more major attractions than TGE.

They really aren't. here along TGE has a water park were Riverside really didn't. TGE had much better water rides. but Riverside has a huge coaster line up with Cyclone at the time being one of the top wood coasters in the world.

TGE was much more Similar to Ri's Rocky Point.

I forgot to add Little Rickies Little Twister to the coaster line up.

Perhaps one of you could post a Flats Line up I know a number of rides but I stand to miss some if I do the list myself.

I hated the idea of TGE getting stuck with an SLC. another used coaster, a coaster people love to hate. and the only place it would have fit was were bobsledded was.
