I watched the ride on you tube...I guess with practice you make the ride....I was really hopeful for a total Ghost Town revitalization....the park needs something up there to replace the nightmare. Yeah a flat was nice, but what does that do for the bigger picture...And someone once told me in the comets historic past it ran backwards in some form no clue if this is true, but I would have to think it would hurt your neck on the big drop or even the stop at the end if they reversed it. I would say a backwards demon would be fun!

you guys talked about it once, found some old forums
sfne stinks - February 15, 2004 04:21 AM (GMT)
what if TGE put one or both of comets trains on backwards? like for fright festt or maybe for the parks ana. alot of park have had coasters that run backwards or do just for a limited time... and when it was in canada 50% of the train had backwards seats and the other ran front. i think it would be cool to get to ride comet backwards..
what do any of you think?
:)

What do I think? I think that the Comet at Great Escape was originally intended to be ran backwards on the 2nd half of the train...

NYGuy... was that ever the intent?

Why do I come to this conclusion? Because of the way the queue splits in half from the front half to the back half... why would any normal loading coaster have to completely different halves to load up on instead of just a front/front or rear/rear? I think that they could & should turn the 2nd half of the train backwards to keep the tradition going like the original Crystal Beach comet was... it's make ridership go way up & raise the popularity...

hmmmmm... that'd be a GREAT idea for the 50th anniversary! It costs no more than really the labor to turn it around & make sure the train connects.

sfne stinks - February 16, 2004 02:34 AM (GMT)
well if yo ulook at CB photos you will see the trains faceing backwards.. and TGE still has the trains on site..not useable but still...
but about the station slip it could be like what LC does on BD.. just so you go one way for front seats and the other for back seats

I would love to visit Magic Forest sometime soon just because im a train junkie and they run an Arrow Dynamics train (one of the same models TGE ran on the GT Railroad.. The train thats inside CB) and i really wanna see it in person :D

Anyways i agree Mrceagle. I am looking forward to trying it out so i wont make any bad comments until i try it. TGE is getting ripped apart on FB for the new addition.
Yes they have an Iron Horse and the road train/ jungle ride if I recall correctly. If I ever get up there and stay in the area I will hit Magic forest, house of Frankenstein, etc.

Ya I'm not surprised they are getting ripped on Facebook since the age group that primarily uses Facebook is very one minded.

Yes with practice you can do so much with them. Turn it 180 degree turn around, snap, 90 degree pull. or keep it reasonably steady if you have a younger rider. 36 in with adult.

Yes at one point the middle cars faced backwards but this was while it was in Canada. It has never run backwards in the US.Problem with running backwards is with no sight you don't know what is coming you don;t counter or instinctively brace for a maneuver you get thrown around more.

I think Demon makes sense simply because it could use something to get a boost in appeal. You use a Gimmick like this to get more attention to a ride. Comet already gets all the attention.

Actually i like the idea of Steamin' Demon backwards. The only time i would want Comet backwards is during Fright Fest but i would still only want 1 train backwards then.

Canyon Blaster would also be a good candidate. it's a mild ride and would give it an extra something to help its appeal.

“In the case of the Great Escape, we looked at the demographics, and what the guests were telling us they wanted at the park,” Reid-Anderson said on the conference call. “That’s how we ended with all these capital ideas. It starts with the parks first and then it’s coordinated at the corporate level.” Post star article
Really...really.. people surveyed asked for more "flats" I somehow think people asked for a roller coaster or more of what SFNE has! The only way people asked for this is based on the lack of thrill seekers :ermm: due to lack of thrills... thoughts???

The park primarily draws families and tourists. If you do exit polling what sort of results do you expect. Also they just added a thrill ride/attraction with the water slide. so Why wouldn't they focus on the families this year.

The thing i dont get is when six flags bought six flags new england they were very similar. They had thunderbolt and cyclone and they also had a water park. when six flags bought tge we had comet a water park and stemin demon.

You cant tell me that sfne was more thrilling then the great escape in the 90's. So i dont get why sfne got mind earser, superman and batman. while tge got boomerange bobsled and canyon blaster.

Six Flags New England did have other Thrill rides as well, but it has really always been a more thrill oriented park. I still do not understand why anybody is complaining about the new addition, it is the perfect fit for the park and can truly be enjoyed by everyone who chooses to ride it. People simply need to give it a chance.

I am not mad about the ride i think its a good addition its just that six flags has gotten way better coaster since sf bought the park and the parks were about the same during the 90's. If they had put bizarro at tge tge would be as big as sfne is today considering that sfi put in batman and goliath to. anyways back to screamin eagles does anyone not like the name i dont really like the name

They couldn't put Bizaro at TGe. because Bizaro uses the terrain it would end up a completely different coaster. anyways I thin this would be best discused in it's own thread.

I like the name but it could be better, especially considering its probable location in the park. I have no complaints about it though because the name fits the ride. Eagles fly, so does the ride. Makes sense.

I'm a little confused you said you don't like it then you do. were you hoping for a name that fits int the Alice walk-through?
