I know they don't own all the land but I know they have enough to store a single coaster. |

Ya, they might need to be sold for that to happen. but if a park were to upgrade or the company gets the opportunity to buy a used one like the Batman clone at SFNO/FT |

There's no doubt in my mind that Serial Thriller was indeed sent to Great Escape initially with the intention of installing it in the park. However, at the time it was sent, The Great Escape was in the beginning of a major electrical/networking systems overhaul that they needed to execute to meet their current needs at the time, let alone expand and add new rides and attractions. Also, this was 2005, a year during which The Great Escape received more budget dollars from corporate than any other park. They built the parking lot, Lodge, and footbridge over route 9 that off-season. The park spent a LOT moving the swamp waters to accommodate everything. Remember how the dirt lot was relatively flat, yet the new parking lots are random elevations and hilly? It took a lot to build up the soil to sustain the parking lot being on top of it and not eroding away, plus the law required that they allow room for the waters to still flow freely. I'm not sure on the final cost of these projects, but I'm sure they would've been enough to buy Great Adventure's collection of B&M coasters and then some. Anyway, back on the topic of Serial Thriller, I believe that it was intended to be installed at the park after infrastructural improvements were completed, and when a new budget was provided in a new year, maybe 2007 or 2008. We also know that LaRonde got Goliath in 2006, as Six Flags does not own LaRonde, but merely manages the property in a lease until 2065, a lease in which the terms require Six Flags to keep the property current by adding new attractions every 4 or 5 years (I can't remember the frequency, but I'd have to imagine it's 4). Also in 2005, Hurricane Katrina slammed the Gulf coast, leaving Six Flags New Orleans a complete and total disaster. At the time, Six Flags expected it's insurers to pay out their coverage for the park and re-open around 2007. However, we all know that neither of those things happened. In 2008, the US and world economies were slammed by The Great Recession due to unregulated, abusive business practices of banks and insurance companies. Six Flags had been sliding downhill due to the overwhelming debt brought on by the Kieran Burke/Gary Story years that Shapiro and his people were desperately trying to pay off, which ultimately resulted in Six Flags filing for bankruptcy protection in 2009. I think that around 2008 was when the decision regarding Serial Thriller was made. Six Flags had an obligation to fill at LaRonde and had a substitute ride from New Orleans to install at The Great Escape, which we all know today as Sasquatch. Now, I know that The Great Escape states that the Serial Thriller end result was "the plan all along". That's pretty much PR talk for "shut the hell up and move on". So, to finish, had Six Flags not gotten itself into a mountain of debt, had Hurricane Katrina gone over Florida instead and weakened over land, or had the city of New Orleans built their hugeass wall at sea decades ago instead of the levee system; Sonic Slam and Bayou Blaster would still be thrilling riders in the Big Easy, Serial Thriller would be thrilling/beating riders at The Great Escape, and we'd all be bitching and moaning on here instead about how LaRonde had their cool new B&M Floorless on the lake and all we got was a lousy SLC. It's too bad Grandma killed that fly in early 2005. |

That dose make a lot of sense. though the Parking lot and bridge was more like 1 B&M. SFI didn't pay much of the Hotel, since there was another company involved in it. as for complaining, I never wanted the SLC but felt it was better then nothing. But I feel it's stupid to have 2 inverted coasters in one park. |

but then again, would you rather have had the SLC? or small additions, childrens additions, and ride removals......worst comes to worst install the new SLC trains and refurb the ride to make it less rough.....but theres no options there anymore. |

not completely sure what you are getting at. TGE has added little to nothing and the attractions we lost were being to go no mater what. I also don;t see SFI not putting in wiggles world because they installed the SLC. |

I agree, the park needs something unique that can stand out. the park has too many clones. |

they could always rethink the flying trapeze location and think about moving it back by the Comet again... the electrical work is partially there, and then you would have a decent spot for an attraction where the flying trapeze is/was |

yeah and maybe they could tear down that old geodesic dome too since it's uglier than it is useful.. but what does that have to do with the slc? |

The park need to do a lot. THE chipper dome needs to come out, the 180 dome needs to come out ( the arcade games can be relocated), if they aren't going to add a new coaster they need to remove the nightmare building. |

the 180 dome hasnt been used for a few years now... not sure if they use it for storage or not... but taking chipper's and the 180 domes down, you have valuable space. |
