So new topic... Do the neighbors of the park become the straw that broke the camels back as it concerns the park. I always found the parks parent company to b cheap, and never thought maybe the neighbors could be to blame in some way. Any thoughts? |

I agree, seems like in the past when ever six flags would want to add or change something large in the park the town and its residence would complain and vote against everything. Makes no sense though, seeing how the park is the only attraction bringing in money into there local economy. I always have this feeling, as if they look at six flags as this evil corporation that only does harm. It seems like most of the time Six Flags doesn't want the drama that would come with building a new large coaster and stuff, or another big attraction that requires permits and stuff. I believe there was disputes over land at some point in the past if I recall correctly as well. |

I remember a while back there was an article written in the post star from some guy complaining about how six flags had ruined great escape.. i think it's posted on here somewhere... the locals don't seem to like six flags that much, and obv great escape has changed with their ownership, but they're not the devil...people are buying the houses that back up directly to the comets 2nd turn around, and if they were to complain, makes no sense... the bobsled has been an issue for years, hence why it closes at 6 every day. as for future expansion, i really think it's relative to what the attraction is and where it's going. like, a couple flat rides or small coaster throughout the park would probably be alot easier to get approved than say a sky screamer back by the comet. |

Noise concern do cause a lot of problem when it comes to additions. if nothing else it adds cost to to litigation to resolve concerns with the noise. Canobie has had to hire exports to measure the decibel levels in the park and predict the impact of the addition. in the case of Untamed the parks new coaster they flue the export to Europe to get accurate numbers on a coaster of the same model. but noise was only a small reason one reason is that SFI find it easy to keep stable attendance with little addition to the park. |
