Again, if you call I am sure they would tell you where it's going.

I guess you could call, but I doubt the receptionist would know.

I was under the impression the new slide structure would be added beside the Bobsled, so I guess that might be in the area near the picnic grounds. I didn't realize the space in front of Comet was large enough for it.

I doubt any decisions for 2013 have been made yet for the park, since Six Flags is still getting out of their rough financial situation. I don't think long-term planning can occur until the company is on more stable ground, so I doubt that the removal of Bobsled has been decided yet, if it is even under consideration. Management would most likely feel compelled to replace it with something else, which goes back to the money and planning problem.

^yes and where did that line of thinking get us back in 2003? We all thought that would be the year of the flagging. To the old management at least, anniversaries like this didn't seem to matter.

2014 is actually the park's 60th anniversary, not 2013

Thanks for the correction. I keep wan ting to think 53 because of the claim that they were the first theme park. 54 is the same year 2 theme parks (Santa's Village and Story Land) opened in NH.

My though was it wouldbgo somewhere down behind the wave pool down near the bathhouse and picnic tables..
Looks like this is right. The Great Escape posted a picture today on their facebook page that shows them digging a hole next to the far end of the wavepool. The slides appear to be being built parallel to Comet. I have a bad feeling that this is going to cut off access between Comet and the Picnic area too.

I actually earlier in this topic stated that i thought it would go there... I guess i was right! Although it seems like a sort of awkward spot with the bath house, dont you think?

So basically there will be even more "dead ends" in the park if that pathway is now gone. Maybe there will be a new entrance to Splashwater next to the bathhouse. That would make too much sense though and I don't see them doing anything of the sort, lol. Who knows, maybe the bathhouse will even be removed?? Looks aweful precarious, doesn't it?

Well anyway, thanks for the pic. At least there is some work started now. I just don't understand why they waited so long since its been so nice this winter. Maybe TGE is taking lessons from Great Adventure.

Construction has gone vertical! Check out the great escape's facebook pages for construction pics. ALSO the great escape indeed revieved a new sign out front with the name "great escape" like the online logo. Pics of the sign AND a new article about TGE that was in the times union in albany a few days ago can be found here http://www.timesunion.com/business/article/Energy-makes-a-big-splash-3486455.php#photo-2824548
