If I kept reading further, thanks for the extra info. I think they stole the characters from 80's pop culture. Wally moose, The blow pop owl,

I second that...never got a free photo with them. Wonder if we might see some more main steam characters as the season progresses. I am happy Scooby and the mystery team will at least be there. It would be exciting IMO be pretty neat to see these characters join the act...
Yogi Bear
The Flintstones
The Jetsons
Magilla Gorilla
Josie and the Pussycats
The Smurfs
The Snorks

They are licensed By Hannah Barbara which is owned by WB Animation studios which is owned by Time Warner, which owns around 20% of SFI.

They have a working contract with Cartoon network/WB animation so they can easily make a deal. but you have to ask how worth it it would be half that list contains characters that no kid now a days will now.

Though the Smufs will have a movie out this year.

ehh i kinda think six flags is making a mistake with keeping the 20 percent contract.... to today kids in this day and age, those are characters they have bearly even heard of like you said. theres really no "sentimental value" (if you know what i mean) to the characters if you didnt grow up with them.

at the rate they remake shows and movies of things from the past, id say they could be come relevant again, at least as much as the timbertown animals.

There is a new Looney toons show that just started up on cartoon network. so we'll see how it dose. So far I have seen one episode and it was horrible. hopefully the future episodes are better.

as for the ownership Time Warner is a 20% owner of SFI and one of the past operators. they were the ones that brought in the looney toons and DC characters to the park.

You people are way too critical and obsessive. Little kids don't watch Looney Tunes any more, it's not on tv, and I don't know whoever thought that these stupid characters were good for amusement parks. Like it makes a difference to a 5-year-old if the adorable giant moose he's getting his picture taken with is an actual piece of popular culture or not. Kiddie areas are easy to theme: make the stuff colorful. I was at SFNE last weekend and passed through Kidzopolis a few times and I was impressed with the colors and fantastical architecture and theming, not to mention it was the most crowded section of the park, with even teenagers enjoying some of the bigger kiddie rides. If you ever talk to non-enthusiasts about this pop-culture theming that is so common in Six Flags they just think its stupid; my friend is a huge Batman fan and noted several times that there is nothing at all "Batman" about Batman: The Dark Knight at SFNE other than the name and the logo on the ground at the entrance. All this trademarking is just stupid, and these parks are probably better off without it, unless they can actually do it right, like at a Disney/Universal level. I haven't been to TGE recently to know but I'm quite sure this all applies here as well.

Yes but with the licensing and the names and stuff it is a ton more marketable. Are people more likely to buy Looney Tunes tshirts and mugs or Timbertown tshirts and mugs? Same with Superman, Batman, Green Lantern... with those names in your face they are getting free advertising and it is alot more prominent. If you were a member of the gp which would sound cooler and catych ur ear a little quicker - Green Lantern or say Nitro? Just name
