2013 Season changes

Posted by nyguy (Admin) at Apr 22 2013, 09:52 PM. 26 comments

From what I was told yesterday.. the foundation for the new ride is in place, and the ride will be installed next week. It's already on property. Also, Blizzard will be moved inside the old dome, with an "Igloo" theme. Balloon Race will be moved from it's current location, and moved to the former Blizzard site. And finally, the bumper cars are being moved up to Ghost Town where the games currently are.

Catapult to TGE?

Posted by benbutterman4 (Members) at Mar 1 2013, 03:48 PM. 15 comments

I was reading on other forums and screamscape that six flags new englands catapult might be closed permanently. I think this would be a great fit for TGE and it might settle rumors of why they are moving bumper cars and scrambler out of the fest area

Q & A With Eric Gilbert

Heres the Q&A with the new park president, Eric courtesy of the Post Star.

It seems like this guy is really focusing on the needs of the park and the expectations of guests so lets hope he puts the park in the right direction!

This also stuck out to me-
Q: What are the plans for installing the new Screamin’ Eagles ride, and what are your expectations for the coming season?

A: Right after we closed last year, we took down the old dome, and crews have done soil testing before installing the foundation. We’ll start putting it in when the weather breaks. And I think we’re ready for a banner year, and we want to put on events that capture the attention of the local consumer. I’m excited to see this property in its full operation in this new position. I’ve seen this park through some great transitions, and I can’t wait to get started up again.

Were has the Nostalgia gone

It was brought up that TGE is not what it used to be. Lets discus!

Compare to the late 80s and 90s. What replaced the ghost town train? The dark ride in ghost town? The flats. The shows? Sure you got a few klunkers from other parks but all in all you have less...the park relied on nostalgia and even thats gone. Thats why I have not been back for several years...nor have the folks I know.

Knobels is still fun...and they make $$$$...and they are privately owned...and sort of in the middle of nowhere....and they have a short operating season too...maybe GE solution is to go back into private hands... If they keep adding thrills like this Lake George will loose its last major attraction.

Gret Escape areas

Since the new ride topic is way off topic I figures I'd move the conversation over here.

old map form the 80's Pre comet and water park.

This was before most of the areas. The Festa area didn't seem to be a themed area. I will try and track down more maps but I'm pretty sure that Feta area stopped when you hit the Circus tent/dome and it then became the Circus world/area and show area.

TGE Vs SFNE

Here we can discus the history of the 2 parks and the focus given to each and the rides they have seen over the years.

The thing i dont get is when six flags bought six flags new england they were very similar. They had thunderbolt and cyclone and they also had a water park. when six flags bought tge we had comet a water park and stemin demon.

You cant tell me that sfne was more thrilling then the great escape in the 90's. So i dont get why sfne got mind earser, superman and batman. while tge got boomerange bobsled and canyon blaster.

six flags man 'response from other thread'

Six Flags New England did have other Thrill rides as well, but it has really always been a more thrill oriented park. I still do not understand why anybody is complaining about the new addition, it is the perfect fit for the park and can truly be enjoyed by everyone who chooses to ride it. People simply need to give it a chance.
