I can feel it in my bones: I need to start tabletop gaming again soon. It's been too long and I am at my healthiest when I make at least some time for the ritual, socialization, and creativity that come with roleplaying. It's not that I haven't been interested lately; far from it. Real LifeTM has become so hectic that I've been left with less time and energy, or I've had one without the other and when I've needed both to put things together.

And I miss our Thayan campaign. I've kept hearing myself say that and think it in the last month or so, and it's true. I can actually feel it. I've been poking around my own web site, enjoying what I find there about the country and its people. I've started to hear the bustle of the ideas for it again in my head. I even broke out my old folder last night to get an idea of where we left off and where I can begin again.

It feels daunting, I must admit. It's an intricate game due to continuity, multiple ongoing story threads, lots of NPCs, Leadership, character-owned businesses, and so on. Some of my old notes are an absolute mess and I'm not sure how I was able to refer to them when I ran the game last time (over a year ago). I finally found some key pieces of info I'd been looking for, so I have that on my side, at least.

I don't want to burden myself with more work than I need to, so I'm trying to narrow down some goals. I can start the campaign back up at an earlier point when the characters were lower level and take it from there, so I'll probably do that first. There's less book-keeping all around that way, and as I told one of the players, it'll be "good, festive fun." I can take the scattered useful info from my old notes and paste them into a coherent document without too much trouble, I think, and then build on the ideas I had left over. They were going somewhere good.

I can use my note-taking program to set up quick checklists about the other little things I should do. I wasn't using that when I ran Thay before but I think it could help a lot. I already cleared up a lot of the sticky notes I'd had in my folder because they had already been resolved and were making me panic with their profusion. I can update any files that need it one day at a time, as I'm coming down from my workday.

And then, maybe, I can also get the second starting point ready, in case I can get the larger group back together again. (Fingers and toes crossed!)

Why am I blathering on about this? Because I want to make it real, get it in front of me, and get started. Hopefully this will hold me to it.
