If I haven't shared this resource previously, I want to make sure to share it now. I had a Crock Pot for years that I never bothered to use. I kept it because it was my grandmother's but I wasn't sure what to make in it. I find myself wishing I'd looked into it the moment I moved out on my own because many tasty recipes aren't expensive to make with it. I know I regret leaving it in the dark corner of my kitchen shelf during the years that I was getting busier than I could stand, when I felt overwhelmed by school and work and housework. Now I regularly let my Crock Pot save me and I end up with yummy food in quantities that I can freeze and enjoy for long stretches. I also use it to cook for my gaming group (so I can spend most of my time prepping) and they always love it. What I love about this blog is that the author originally decided to cook for her family in her Crock Pot each day during one year. She found recipes, posted them (and what she actually ended up using) and then posted the opinions of her family. If it was a hit, she lets you know why. If the kids loved it, you know it was probably awesome. One of her kids is gluten intolerant so she regularly gives options for gluten free cooking. When the year was up, she kept using her Crock Pot and sharing her results; she just don't post daily any more. (It's also good to check out her reader's comments for ideas.) Without further ado, I give you: A Year of Slow Cooking Edited by kismetrose, May 30 2011, 03:09 PM.
