Okay, so my time and energy have been at decent lows lately, due to being poured into work. That's all fine and good and as it should be, given I'm starting new positions in a new career. But I think I'm starting to miss gaming for a number of reasons. I miss sitting down to it with my friends. I miss the light-hearted laughs and the ability to forget about the world for a little while. I miss rolling dice, even. But since I don't have much time, I'm not going to be able to run very elaborate productions any time soon. I'm going to have to steal time to sit down with the books to refresh myself on mechanics. So I've been pondering: I could run a diceless game. I've done it before with good results. I do like dice and all of the added neatness that mechanics bring, but there's so much to remember that it might take considerable weight off my mind to go diceless. I could run one-shots with the option to renew. That way I could run anything, set just about anywhere, with no pressure to be elaborate. Keep in mind that my first D&D game has been run for like four years and it's still on the back burner, waiting to be picked up. I have a nasty habit of getting into large productions with tons of NPCs and plots threads. It becomes more difficult to prepare for a game while keeping all of that in mind. I could start a game in the setting I was developing for White Wolf. I did a lot of work on the vampire end of things with some details for changelings. I could wing it from there. I'm not sure if my players would be interested in playing Vampire right now; I'm not sure I'm up for the backbiting either. But Changeling could be a breath of fresh air - mysterious, magical, dark and enchanting the way that fairy tales are. We played Changeling earlier this year under Valefor and I'd wanted to run my own. I really love the system. I'm also thinking that I'd have to run shorter games due to scheduling issues. Our work schedules are all over the place; I might be able to run like a six hour game, max. That's different for our group, since we tend to run eight to twelve hour games. But I can try it. |

So, I think I have an idea that could easily be developed into something cool. Now I just need a spare moment, which I haven't had today, really. Oh, and some good, quick setting information on Roaring 20's Chicago... |

Right now, I'm looking to do some one shots if I can via tabletop. I haven't gamed online in years, but it might be a good way to possibly game with Valefor again, if he's amenable... |
