My wife and I went exploring the city this weekend and found a great used bookstore. Inside, I found a ton of cheap Dragon magazines and a weird, hardcover graphic novel called The Forbidden Sands of Anauroch. The art is all done in the popular anime style and the story is part 2 of a 6 part series but I was excited to find such an item. I never knew WoTC produced such a thing. Truthfully, its really bad quality: the story leaps and bounds from pane to pane and was hard to follow, there are actual character sheets for the monsters attached near the end of the book, and the "anime meets D&D" thing just didn't work for me...but its still a very interesting find.

Have any of you ever seen or read one of these?

I own the five they did in the DragonLance world.
In my mind, it is that simple. But then, I'm simple minded. -Didge-

I hadn't seen anything like it before, but that doesn't mean much. I don't really keep track of comics, nor have I been keeping track of D&D releases. I believe the comics based on Drizzt and R.A. Salvatore's first books are out at this site here. Some of the sample art I saw looked good but I have no idea how well they adapted the books.

For the most part I don't like anime so that would have gotten really annoying to me. The only graphic novel I've ever read was redhawks adaptation of Jordan's prequel to the wheel of time series. It sucked though, they kept having delays in production and they got only 4 of the 6 completed before they just shut down production and said the art company was causing all kinds of problems and they couldn't work with them.
