Dru' follows Marcus, while looking around to see if she can guess what caused the damage, other then fire. |

Thrug tossed his corpses behind a nearby tree grunblimg to himself about being hungrey and tired and needing a nap and a turkey. He followed Marcus as instructed hoping that this "mayor" the guard mentioned was some sort of cook. |

Rumil hurried down the hill and towards the center of town towards the man whom the guards had pointed out. Along the way he heard the groans of the injured, the covered faces of the dead, and the cries of the grieving. Destruction loomed almost everywhere he looked. Buildings were burning or already rubble and townsfolk picked at them trying to find whatever they could salvage. He approached Father Jerald and bowed slightly proclaiming the blessings of Fharlangh upon him. The cleric looked up, an older man with tufts of grey around his head and wrinkles deep on his face. His eyes appeared to normally be a merry blue, but today they held nothing but sadness. "And may the blessings of Pelor shine down upon you as well servant of Fharlangh" He rose for a moment from his kneeling stance. "I am Father Jerald, and these are my friends. I have done all that I can for them today. I have no more potions and Pelor does not see fit to grant me any further prayers today. I would appreciate what help you can in healing those who are still injured and helping me to make the rest as comfortable as we can." He pointed to a small stone building at the top of the hill that had escaped the fire. There were townsfolk sitting all around the building. "Most of the injured have been moved up there who could be moved. You could start there with whatever work you can do. I could use your help in burying the dead later tonight." And with that the old man sadly went back to his work of identifying the dead and finding the injured. Townsfolk who were able occassionally would leap at his command and bring another injured person to the top of the hill. Rumil found more people than he could handle and began the process of identifying the ones in most need of his assistance before calling down the grace of Fharlangh upon them. |

As Rumil headed off to work with the cleric, the rest of the party was led down a small path to the center of town. They too found the town destroyed by fire in most every location. They passed a few stone buildings that survived and were led to one rather large stone building that had also survived in the center of town. As they entered, the guard stepped to the side and waited for the scene inside to finish before introducing the visitors. A man sat at a small table with papers and maps spread out in front of him with a small group surrounding him. He was lecturing them on the plans for the rest of the night. "Aram, you will take the militia and setup guards at every entrance to the city. No one gets in or gets out without me knowing about it personally. Tharn, I want you to lead the rangers out approximately 15 minutes away from the city in every direction and run the scouts all night long. I don't want to be taken surprised again." He was interrupted by a younger man, approximately 16 years of age who blurted out his fear. "But how are we to defend against ghosts. They were here and then gone. We can't fight that." "NONSENSE" Tilles growled, "Forget your ghost stories and do as your told. Everybody out! And do your jobs well tonight or we may not have another." Slowly he turned towards the guard at the door, reading the papers in front of him and rubbing his temples. "And who might these be?" "Master Tilles, these three showed up at the gates mere minutes ago. They were accompanied by a cleric of Fharlangh who now assists Father Jerald with his duties. They claim to have been attacked by several goblins along the road and they have brought the body of a young woman who they found hanging from a tree along the road." "Goblins?" Tilles began. "There haven't been goblins in these hills in 100 years." He looked towards the party and took them in. "Tell me your story." |

"well , there was a sign that said beware of bandits...or did it say bandits beware? But anyway. We saw some signs of an ambushed caravan, then later on down the road we saw a female body hanging from a tree. Two goblins jumped out of the woods, and Thrug made a bloddy mess of them all over the place. (smiling toward Thrug). We saw the village burning, hope it was just food cooking. Have I missed anything Dru' and Thrug?" |

"Yes, yes. The sign. We placed that their ourselves. We have been under a bit of a siege as you can well tell. It seems we're losing." The old man paused for a moment and rubbed his hands across his obviously tired face. He looked at the three of them and sighed. "There's not much for you in the town right now as you can tell from the rubble, but if you'd like to pitch in and help out we could find a place for you to sleep and possibly some food." |

Dru' smiled at the old man. The shadows were whispering to here, and they promised great things indeed. She would love them all the more, and they here. Dru' would indeed help the villagers, but only if to be next to Jack. They promised much to Dru' is she stayed with Jack. Smiling, only a little disturbingly, Dru' agreed to help, but then pretended to trip, grabbing hold of Jack as she fell. "Jack" Dru' said, "I want to help the villagers, but I cant walk well." Smiling sweetly, Dru' continued, "I need your help to walk." To prove her point, Dru' leaned agaist him, cuddling somewhat. |

"well, I for one have many questions." ooc: cue 70's porn music:) Jack pauses and looks around the village, taking in the details of defendable positions, weak points, and key areas. Jack offers Dru his arm, and Dru's touch, Jack's stomach tightens. "Are you sure you'll be up to fight if the need arises? I think we should have Rumil have a look at your leg. Did you injure it during that trap?" Jack thinks back to that event....puzzled as to why dru' never mentioned it before...and why she didn't have much of a problem running to the village. ooc: my questions. Where do the bandits attack from, what time of the day, how many, and what direction do they head off to. |

Dru' smiles at Jack, pleased he is thinking of her. "'Less I need to run, Im ok." "'K Jack." "Just," at this point, Dru' looks down, her emotions somewhat clear on her face. Frustration, anger, and bewilderment, to name a few. Then, the emotions are gone, and she looks up at Jack again. "please dont ask him to heal me divinely..." Dru' looks at Jack, slightly puzeled. "Jack, my leg was hurt when the goblin gashed it with its stick." As Jack looks around, Dru' casts detect magic, and looks around. |

"The bandits." Tilles sighed. "It is a long story and one I do not like repeating too often, but if your party is willing to help it is one you must hear. But if you don't mind, I'd like to meet this cleric of yours before we begin." Tilles looked towards the guard still standing by the door. "Guard, can you show these three to the temple." He looked back towards the party. "You can sleep there tonight, it's the best location for guests. I will have my wife bring you something to eat later. Once you are situated you are free to look around the village. We'd certainly welcome any help in getting situated for the night. I don't feel that we'll suffer another attack tonight. If we do we will not be taken off guard like we were last night. I for one would like to speak to this cleric of yours so I am off to find him. As I said, the guard will show you to the temple, but you are free to move around as you wish. Once I meet with this cleric of yours I will join you all again later." With that the old man headed out the door and the guard led the party down a small path towards a large stone building that was still mostly standing. It seemed safe enough from a distance at least. Detect Magic returns nothing. |
