My position allows me the ability to read anyones e-mail at any point where I work. In fact, it's part of my job if I want to do it although I rarely do. E-mail is considered public knowledge and should any reporter ever ask to see all our e-mails it's required that we send it out so people should really watch what they send. So we monitor it occassionally. Normally I'm too busy to even think of it, but for some reason today I did.

I came across one today that was loads of fun. One of our workers is trying to break into the porn business, so those e-mails sent from government property were fun. Secondly, she's getting married but had this whole string of e-mails between her and this guy she's been screwing on the side where she begged him to pay for her wedding to someone else, and then when he refused she got mad and started yelling at him that she couldn't depend on him and that he just didn't want her to be happy.

This was the funniest thing I've ever ever seen. I laughed for probably ten minutes.

I could turn her in, but her e-mails may just make my job worth the hassle.

So yes, I am an :ass:

My company has very similar policies about e-mail and web communication not being private. Were I at home I would respond with something witty, but seeing as how I'm being monitored (probably) I'm going to refrain until I get home, but so help me once I get home :mwaha:

Kesht, your response is probably the most perfect response I could have expected.

You can add a second line to your sig.

Nah, that's not so evil. Evil is what I'd do...namely, forwarding the emails to her husband.

How's that evil? If anything, you might be doing the guy a favor. I know I'd want to know if something shady like that was going down. Hehehe... I said "going down."

I had a similar experience once as a part of a former job.

There was one couple in the company that wanted to find new jobs and spent a lot of emails dissing their current one, thinking that no one would see. That's in their files now in case they ever want to be rehired (though I doubt they will).

Another chick set it up so she got myspace emails through her work email account, which they caught and nipped in the bud. They warned her, printed the emails out, and those went in her file, along with the other personal emails she was sending to other folks in the company all day long.

Honestly, it's safe to assume that your emails are being watched if you at work. I don't see why people aren't understanding this. Then again, some people seem to think that they're in a private room every time they pick up their cell phones.

Those people are called "idiots." These are the same people that think the the freedom of speech granted by the US constitution gives them the right to say anything they want, any time they want in any place they want. As I said...idiots.

LOL

Am I the only one who sees the irony of the Google adds here?

Their database linked this topic to adds about 'E-mail monitoring software' and such.

Anyway, my employer wanted every office of ur company run on the network. We where one of those companies that used mostly 'stand alone' computers. Our new president found that archaic and he new the benefits off an all-round network. But he had not the faintest idea of how a natwork should be run. Neither did he know the costs laying such a network (hehe, you'd think he had become president by laying his network).

Not surprise, we now have a hopelesly out of date network, with lots of problems. Heck, our printer doesn't work most of the time because it seems to think by default that you need the netmasters clearance. But the netmaster usially get really annoyed when you ask him to clear the printer. He then replies -I have this discussion about once a month- to check the cables, to replace the cartridge and he even once got so bolt as to ask if there is any paper in the machine. Only after you say you've checked everything does he do what he has to clear the printer. Like it's my fault.

But the strange thig is, I can alter policies, alter reports, change the notes from the directors meetings. I can watch porn, I think I should be able to go to paying websites and gambling sites. I know only downloading movies will draw attention, unless I do it in the evening or in the weekend. Not that is is any fun, on these slow beasts that make you wish internet was still text based.
said the fool, and he showed his suntanned teeth.

I hate firewalls like the one where I used to work. It would block even the sites that I needed to use for my job. I gave the addresses to the IT guy so he could allow me access but I swear to god that particular IT guy took forever to do anything. I suppose it had something to do with his high-up daddy giving him the job.

Sounds like the SonicWall we have here at my boarding school. Blocks the most ridiculous sites (EBaumsWorld is no longer accessible for some reason, and searching 'breast cancer' runs you into it), but fails to cover all bases (i.e. a few proxy sites that allows you to BYPASS THE FUCKING SONICWALL!!!). The guy who runs our network hates it. My roommate needed the port for Starcraft opened, and the guy had to go through ten minutes worth of crap just to unblock one fucking port.

I seriously think they need to do just a complete and total overhaul of the student internet over here. Yeah, it would be expensive, but at least it wouldn't take ten minutes to unblock a port.

Sonic Wall was the bane of my existance in high school. It never blocked the porn, just potentially useful sites.

The best part is, living in a tiny little town, no one in the school really understood how to set it up. This meant hiring some of the students, and in many cases, never rovoking thier access to the admin parts.

haha, update time.

Last week she apparently had sex with another woman. She told her fiance they kissed but not anymore because he would consider that cheating.

I love my job.

And I sure hope none of you know this woman because I wouldn't want my fun to be ruined by having her stop using work e-mail for personal reasons.

Just of curiosity Aladdar, are you familiar with the BOFH series? If you haven't had a chance to read them, I suggest you do. They're akin to the type of job you do, and are written in a very condescending manner towards those who should buy a clue. They're also hysterically funny. But maybe that's because I've done IT before at the college and can totally feel for the guy.

When you're making an Adventure, remember to ask, "WWMPD" (What Would My Player's Do?) Then tailor your adventure around that.
