Owen piped up finding someone who was familiar with his destination. "What can you tell me of Wallac? Do you know of the Hight Priest Mortwick of Heironeous?" |

Owen: The stranger emptied his glass and turned his head to Owen. His voice sounded soft as he spoke: "There is bound to be a priest of Heironeous in Wallac, I reckon. Hmmm.... I know Ferdan a little better. Mostly Pelor there, no offence. But the border patrols cross Wallac, and most of the queens soldiers pray to Heironeous as far as I know. Some of these soldiers fancy them regular paladins, evocing His name on the battlefield.... Even when they are fighting animals, I tell ya." Owen startled. As he heard the stranger talk at this rate, he took a better look and saw the man carried arms. A rapier hang from his side. A bow leaned against the bar. |

Owen took in the man closer, he was armed, but seemed safe enough. He finished his stew dropping a few coins on the counter to pay for is food. "How much for that room sir?" He asked the innkeep. Once his business with the innkeep was complete he walked towards the armed man with his drink in hand. "My names Owen, Cleric of Heironeous, The Invincible. What brings you to this area?" |

Owen: The Innkeep took the coins of the bar and replied: I can write it down if you like. A room will cost ya 5 silvers. And another silver for breakfast, if you'd like any. The stranger raised his glass to get the Innkeeps attention and asked: Myet, you got anymore of this stuff? And turning to Owen, who sat himself down next to him Owen, right? The name is Serl... And after a pause I guess I don't mind tellin' ya, I do some odd jobs in the queens service sometimes. You know how the dwarves don't defend their borders? They reckon they don't have to. And they are probably right too, ya know? Nobody in their right mind will attack a dwarf on his own territory. Besides, most threats to the dwarves come from within their borders. Keeps ‘m busy enough as it is. But all sorts of trouble leak through. A bear wandered off, looking for a new habitat. The border patrol spotted him and gave chase. Drove ‘m right into the area right here. Poor beast was scared shitless, finding himself in a populated area with all these horsemen after ‘m. I solve these problems sometimes. Keep the dangerous animals out of civilisation, and keep the so-called civilised people out of the wild if I have to. Time passed. It was dark outside. Inside it was light and warm. Some locals sat around the fireplace. Others sat at the bar, drinking large pints of ale. Sounds of laughter and people talking filled the room. What do you do? |

Owen shook his head in agreement as he listened to the man speak, finishing off the mead in his own glass. Fishing through his coin pouch, he pulled out a single gold piece and dropped it on the counter. "This should be enough to cover a room and breakfast in the morning, and our drinks for the remainder of the night. Keep whatever's left over. Drinks are own me Serl." He gave the man an approving nod before setting his empty glass down on the counter and requesting another from the innkeep. "I've been sent to Wallac to assist the temple of Heironeous there, from Tash. I know of nothing that I walk into however. Can you tell me of goings on in that area?" |

Owen: The innkeep took the golden coin and studied it closely, biting it between his teath. A brief smile came upon his face, as he put it in his pouch. He poured a new mead and a glass of ale for Serl. Southern boy ay. Cityfolk too. You know you're half a day *Serl took a long examining look at Owen* a days travel from the dwarven kingdom of Kuroth in the north? But you're going north-east to Ferdan. From there you'll want to go north to Wallac. Border patrols frequent the area there. And not without reason. The main trade-route between Kuroth and our eastern regions goes through those lands. You'll pass it as you go to Ferdan. I don't know what role the temple of Heironeous plays in this. But I do know the queens soldiers sometimes call on their service. Strange you don't know your mission. Haven't you got your orders? Serl sat back while he took another sip from his ale. The inn was getting more crowded. He pondered for a while, before he spoke again: Anything you're particuarly good at? Because you don't strike me as the type to go scouting, and you'd make poor cavalery without a horse. Anyway, the travel there should be safe. I recommend the Coach-house Inn for tomorrow night and you'll be fine. |

Owen chuckled to himself somewhat at the question. Anything he was good at? "Well I do be a cleric of Heironeous, The Invincible sir. I've a fair hand with my sword as well. Of course, if you'd like to accompany me or know of someone who could help me along the way as I'm not too familiar with the way I'd be most appreciative." Owen sat back and thought for a moment. "So you say I'm about a days travel from Ferdan, and the Coach House Inn there. I'll keep that in mind." He took a slow sip of his mead. He'd had about as much as he'd allow himself. He had nothing against alcohol, but a priest of Heironeous needed a clear head at all times. |

Owen: Serl shook his head. You cityfold tend to think all outdoors is chaos. But you'll manage. Wait. Serl stood up and walked away. When he returned, he had a piece of parchment and an inkpen with him. I'll draw you a map. <img src='http://home.hetnet.nl/~mciack/PLAATJESMAP/Ithan, schets II.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'> Forgive me, the dimensions may be off a bit. But you'll be able to navigate with this. Serl yawned. Early day tomorrow. I'll be off, good night. The inn had gotten quieter. The last guests where still drinking ale, but most of them had left. What do you do? OOC: You have no idea what I went through, just trying to get that map there. But I feel a little proud that I did it. |

Owen studied the map for a few moments before folding it up and pocketing it. "Thank you kind sir, may Heironeous guide your feet and light your way. I do believe I'll need to get started early as well." Owen finished his drink and headed back over to the innkeep. "Good Sir, which way to my room." Owen followed the innkeep up the stairs and to his room. His mind swirled with possibilities and his heart was more settled now that he knew his direction. The innkeep stopped in front of a door fishing a key from his pocket. "Your room." Owen entered and dropped his bags by the door. The bed was inviting, but first he knelt down by the open window and thanked Heironeous for his blessings today and his protection into the future. ooc, glad to see you got it up. If you need some good webspace, I can setup an ftp connection to my server and give you your own folder you can use for uploading things for this game. |

Owen: Well deserved sleep. Laying down. Owen feels the exhaustion of his limbs. And the subtle effect of the two glasses of mead he had. The days march comes back into his mind. How much had he seen already. The towns, the villages, the sloping landscape. And now he lies in a strange bed, in a strange town. A bit surreal. Yet, as always, Owen has his faith to guide him. He thought back on his mentor, Oban, who had said: “For what would man be, but mere Orcs battling each other, had they not their Faith, their Northern Star; the will of the Gods to do right and just, so innocents may live in piece and perpetrators be stopped. It is our Holy Duty and our sworn mission to defend our Faith. To battle those that seek to repress the ones that have not the strength to withstand the vile aggression of Evil. We live a soldiers life, sober and dangerous, so others may seek shelter in their homes and warmth by their fireplace. Yet pity us not, for the lives dedication to an ideal so much larger than ourselves is truly a blessing. And we find reward wherever we are in the depth of our Faith.“ And with this thought Owen fell asleep. And he dreamt. He dreamt of battle, of gallant knights battling demons and of undead haunting villages. But most of all he dreamt of the light of courage, the inspiration from his God to bring justice to the needing and honour to the battlefield. First light. Morning. A sunbeam crept through the curtains, and with the softest touch imaginable it woke Owen. Feeling truly refreshed, the night had done him good. He heard a sound. And another. Focusing in the dim light in his room, he made out it came from below. Metal. Clanging metal. Kitchen. Of course, the innkeep was up already, preparing breakfast. A door closed on the first floor, close to Owens room. Soft footsteps through the hallway. The boards creaked. So did the stairs. One of the guests had got up. Voices below. He could make out Serls dim voice and the loud voice of the innkeep. Owen thought a while, planning the day that lay ahead of him. What do you do? OOC: Thanks for the offer to host my images! I’ve found another way to solve it, because my provider lets me use 22MB of webspace. That should do. |

Owen awoke, refreshed not only in body but in spirit as well. He was in a much better mood this morning. As always Heironeous had guided his feet and lit the way for his path. He felt somewhat ashamed of his doubt and of his fear for who was he but a mere ant compared to Heironeous, but an ant that Heironeous had chosen and whom He trusted to fulfill His duty on this plane. Owen swung his feet from the bed and stretched his aching muscles. He was well trained, but not for the long travel he had just taken and for what lay ahead. His muscles ached slightly but he stretched them out and blinked the sleep from his eyes. He found the wash bin in the corner of the room and splashed the cool water across his face and through his hair. At last, before donning his armor, he knelt by his bed and began his morning ritual of prayer and praise to Heironeous. It always made him feel better and whatever exhaustion had taken him always seemed to wash away as the power and love of Heironeous flowed through him. After a long time of meditation and prayer, Owen rose, refreshed and confident in his mission and his duty. He donned his heavy armor, sheathed his sword, and bounded down the stairs to breakfast and then to his destiny, whatever it held. He entered the dining area and waved at the burly innkeep behind the counter. "Smells wonderful. I'd love a plate of whatever it is." With that he sat down at the table, devoured his food, and then headed towards the doorway and on towards Wallac. |

Can't believe its not butter

"Tis best to keep on my guard in these parts, eh? Can't fool me! I'm on to your little game, mountain."Gray said out loud as he trekked past the indications of hostile critters in the area. "But that won’t sway me from my trip, or even my campout!" The evening air had a pleasant breeze. It had been years since Gray had spent a night under the open sky and he took advantage of his situation. He let his senses wander, soaking in the sight of the setting sun and twinkling stars and the smells wafting in the air. As much as he would have liked to spend the rest of the night basking in nature's glow, Gray had to eat and find water. A small trickle of water led down the mountain and into the valley where it combined with others to form a pond big enough to quench his thirst. Rabbits were in abundance, munching on clover that grew wild throughout the region and catching one took little effort. Gray hummed an old miner's tune while he cleaned and cooked his dinner and thought about the journey ahead. He ate his simple meal while picking out the Dwarven constellations he had read about in the Deepwarden's library. "Ah, Meltur, you old son-of-a-gnome" Gray addressed the seven stars that formed a vague outline of a great Dwarven warrior. "You make sure to let me know if something comes sneakin' up on me, ya here?" Of course the constellation did not answer, but Gray felt better thinking that someone was watching over him as he made his bed from grass and moss and laid down to sleep under the hopefully watchful eyes of the stars. Rat, Gray's companion and long time friend, found contentment in the greedy consumption of grubs and worms that seemed hidden under every rock. Gray knew that Rat would follow him to the edge of the world and jump off with him as long as there was something to eat and warm Dwarf to sleep next to. Rat settled down with Gray as the night grew cold but was awakened every so often by the Dwarf's loud snoring and the occasional stray piece of conversation between dream characters that made it to Gray's lips. |

Guild of Necromancers: Give us your hungry, your sick, your cold

Owen: A road, winding through emerging hills. Of in the far north, the snowy peaks of the first mountains of a huge mountain range dominate the horizon. But Owen travels east. He passes the town gate and returns the greetings from the guards. They are as watchful as this promising spring day lets them. But who where to blame these young lads if they invest some of their vigilance in the fair maidens of the town. After all, the thoughts of the town where turning towards SummerFest and none wanted to be left going to the dance alone. So they greeted Owen as he passed, and turned their attention towards an approaching group of milkmaids. Owen set out. He easily decided which road to take, as only one went east. It was a well travelled road. Traffic coming in and out the town. Carts and people, an occasional rider on horseback. Heading north, heading west, heading east. Owen passed a couple of cross-roads, And at every cross-road traffic would get off, and traffic would get on. Despite the hills, the area was obviously quite arable, farmlands on either side of the road. Villages and towns he passed. All in this hill terrain type of construction, with houses build only on the downhill side of the road. And everywhere he looked people where working the land, doing business. The winter was over, there was work to be done. What do you do? |

Owen whistled as he walked, his heart was lighter today than when he had first started out. He was the chosen of Heironeous and who was he to have doubted his purpose. He stopped for a few moments by a farmhouse and watched two children running in the front yard, hiding behind trees and in and out of the farmhouse. His thoughts returned to his childhood, of a life he no longer had. He shook his head and laughed as the children ran by waving. That was no longer his life, and he had a greater purpose than to stand still reminiscing. Owen reached in his backpack and pulled out his water flask, taking a quick sip before replacing it and heading on towards Ferdan. He hoped to find some answers soon. |

Guild of Necromancers: Give us your hungry, your sick, your cold
|
Gray: Panic! That sensation is a foreign notion to a dwarf. Just something he knows exist. So it took Gray a second to understand what he was experiencing. Panic. And not his own. He felt Rat screaming telepathically. Gray focused. Where? Where was Rat? He heard a hissing noise to his left. Looking, he saw Rat biting a viper’s head off. “Be calm, my friend” Gray heard a voice. “Those nasty buggers are no threat to a big guy like you.” A long and slender fellow stepped out of the bushes near Rat, and spoke to him in a calm voice. He stood about five feet high, and was dressed in a leather suit of dull yellow and green and a brown cloak. He carried a longbow on his back and a longsword on his side. The telepathic sensation of panic gave way to a new feeling of comfort. Rat looked at Gray, who was now fully erected, and glimpsed back at the viper as to make sure biting his head off was sufficient to kill the little creeper. Twilight. The shade of the eastern slope of the mountain prevented the early sun to announce the coming of a new day. Yet, the few beams of light that reflected from the western slope filtered through the leaves of the trees in this valley and set all in an unearthly beautiful green light. It was as though the world itself was new, and with every second more of creation was revealed to the two figures who where so absorbed by the battle between a dog sized rat and a tiny viper. “Had his blood been warm yet, the poor beast would have fled” the figure’s voice sounded melodically “but your friend here did not care to wait that long”. What do you do? |
