Seriously, who doesn't like to game when it's raining? If were planning on DMing in my retiring years, and you better believe I am, I'd want to pick a place with atmosphere. Nothing helps set the tone for a D&D game like a rainy night. Thunder is a bonus too.

Sounds like Oregon or Washinton for me.

What about you? :blink2:
She hung up! I'mf going to die alone and nakeds!

AH, Florida is a great place to play if the ambiance is a factor. So many
"Florida Rooms" with lots and lots of windows, some even with glass roofs, always nice and open. They are perfect for pretending your outside but keeping all the comforts of air conditioning and none of the nasty bugs. And despite being the called the sunshine state, we get quite a bit of rain during the summer with lightning keeping the sky a beautiful shade of daylight blue for just a fraction of a second before fading to black, and always followed by a ground shaking roar of thunder. Before all that El Nino crap a few years ago, rain was a daily occurrence. Thunderstorm at three PM everyday like clockwork. You could set your watch by it.

Ah, the good old days.

Given the final choice in the matter, I'd probably have to go with coastal Ireland. There's a lot of ambient sound (waves, wind and waves crashing against rocks with a thundering echo), not to mention the climate is nice, but there are a lot of random weather patterns.
In my mind, it is that simple. But then, I'm simple minded. -Didge-

We once rented a belgian castle (with a moat, alas no draw-bridge), and fifteen people gamed there for three days.

*Takes cover*

Don't be jealous, it was only paradise... The weather was great. We where in a small belgian town, that had that typical medieval look.

So I had to say, hmmm..... Go back?

Or, if I could choose, a french, german or scottish castle on a huge cliff. High above the countryside. Let it rain. Let it thunder. What we want is a storm!!!

And a drawbridge

I wish I had the life some of you have had. lol

I'm very happy with my life, but to have gamed in a castle would have been awesome.

If you want rain, best not come up here to where I live in Alaska. We don't get rain very often in the South Central all that much, in fact we're considered to be an Arctic Desert because of the lack of rainfall that we do get. Although the, "Panhandle (area's like Skagway and the capital)" got tons of rain.

I don't care for the rain that much, but thunderstorms and lightning are always cool, at least to watch. We don't get hardly any thunderstorms up here, and lightning is more of the sheet lightning than the bolt lightning, but again both are rare occurances. Not compared to some of the places I've been in the rest of the states, like Pennsylvania for starters. I've seen some beautiful thunderstorms in that state, along with in Seattle, and around that neck of the woods.

You took the words right out of my mouth Aladdar...give them back. ;)
When you're making an Adventure, remember to ask, "WWMPD" (What Would My Player's Do?) Then tailor your adventure around that.

Dream you may, those castles do really give you the feeling that they are hunted. And the sounds at night.... You don't know how a castle sounds, untill you have slept in one. It is sooooo cool

We have also used the fireplace.

hell, you're all lucky. i'd like to be able to play in my own damn house, much less a belgian castle. we have so much shit (non-dnd-oriented shit might i add) that there's absolutely no place to play. not to mention that my brother and his uber-christian friends are always over playing halo 2 (hmmm, christians playing a game with genocide being the main goal. ironic.) the sad thing about this is that, when they're playing online, people curse up a storm, and they just shrug it off, yet if i say anything above the level of 'damn,' i suddenly find myself at the end of a sermon. no wonder i'm the family black sheep.

The proper response to this is "fuck you, you god damn hipocrite!"
