AVAST YE ... DEAD MEN DON'T BITE!
Alright, so every year for the past 10 years, I watch the Tour De France and get the bug to get back into cycling. Well this year it hit hard ... went to the local bike shop and got this Trek 7000. Already went on a short 5 mile ride. This is my new weapon in the battle of the bulge, this really is the only form of exercise I love. Can't ...wait to lose the rest of this weight and then get a road bike.

That's a fine lookin' philley me boy! Alice1 I have a 1986 Trek Pro 600 road bike with the drop handles and it still rides like a dream compared to the Wallyworld stuff. deadhorsey1 I used to run triathlons back before children but today the drop handlebars are too low for this old body to endure more than about 30 minutes and my crotch can't take as much saddle time as it used too. EnigmaandGiuseppe I was reading opinions about the 7000 series and one thing seemed a bit ominous, the rear derailleur is made of plastic and tends to be the weak point of an otherwise excellent ride. I hope you never encounter that problem and may you reap great benefits from your consistent daily exercise! beer

Rode 12 miles today.
I'll check into the derailleur, but if it does become a problem I'll just replace with a better one.

Man, I'd trade in several old baseball cards and maybe a beloved eMachine for a ride like that. I haven't had a good bike like that in a very long time and like you it's the only form of exercise I like, and maybe a bit of walking, but I'd prefer wheels.
eMachine T6212 (AMD 64 3200+) w/MSI BIOS 3.9
OCZ Fatal1ty 550W ATX Power Supply NEW
V.2 Antec 900 case (Transplant was a success!)
VisionTek x1300 XGE Radeon video w/EVERCOOL VC-RHC VGA Cooler
Bigfoot Networks Killer NIC K1
OCZ Platinum 4GB DDR 400

It is a nice ride ... just brought a set of used Look clipless pedals for 20.00. My old cleats from 17 years ago still fit and are still in good shape. Been riding 12 miles a day, and the clipless just make it so much better.
