Hello fellow eMachine upgrades! :D

Posted Image
DFI has recently released their new Micro ATX (LANParty JR X58-T3eH6) built around the new X58 chipset and 1366 LGA socket type that can take Intel's latest flagship processors, the Core i7s. I love everything about this motherboard since it's designed for serious gammers in mind, but allows people who want to easily carry their Micro ATX cases to Lan parties (It's been a while for an eMachine being a gaming system since the T6000). As you can see from the Motherboard it has daul PCI 16x for SLI or Quad Cross fireX, new and old PCI, 6 RAM SLOTS UP TO 24GB OF DDR3 RAM, debug LED, and enough SATA and USB connections for unlimited expandability. :luv: Question is, will this be fully compatible with the Nexgen case?

4 things that worry me are the Front USB, Audio in and out, Power switch, and Power supply of choice. Looking at the diagrams of the connections may work, but that's why I'm here seeking for verification before I drop a good amount of cash on this rig.

Here is a diagram of both the USB and Audio for the Motherboard.

If I'm correct the Nexgen case comes with a universal connection for the power (Not like the Verna, Bigbear, Fait, ect). Here's a diagram of the Front Power.

Looking around Newegg and there are too many power supplies to choice from, but my main concern is the length of the power supply cables. Anybody know how to disgusting that the power supply is designed for micro atx so I don't end up having poor air flow with long cables. I'll be planning on having a dual SLI EVGA GeForce 9600 GT 1GB.h

Other than that I should be all set. This is gonna be a excellent machine and getting all the parts together would cost around 1400 including the lower end i7 cpu, 6gb of DDR3 ram, two 500 GB HD, T3265 Case, two 9600 GT cards, power supply, and decent creative speakers.

Way to go man....thanks for posting this......now I have drool and shit running down the front of my shirt.

I don't see any reason why this mobo won't work in a Nexgen case. The audio and USB connections look STANDARD (scroll about half way down the page).
Review the thread HERE about PSUs. You'll need a standard size ATX PSU for the Nexgen case.

This should make for one bitchin' rig..........I need to see about working some overtime now..

WOOOPS!!!!

Sorry Jakeman my trigger finger accidentally deleted your post to this thread.

Good catch,,,the LANParty JR X58-T3eH6 is a full ATX mobo will not fit in the Nexgen case, but the pic he posted is the JR X58-T3H6 (microATX) which will fit.

Hi TD,
That's o.k. about the post. :D Just didn't want this guy to come up with a board, and no case to put it in. The LANParty JR X58-T3eH6 would be like trying to put 10 pounds of s@%t in a 5 pound bag, especially with 2 vga cards. He would have to hang it out in a hurricane with the side panel off just to cool it if you know what I mean.

Ahhhhhhh you have eagle eyes for corrections! lol Of course I was gonna get the Micro ATX form factor, would not be that dead of a door nob to do so! But really, I still need to do more research before I go ahead and do it because the connections for the front USB and audio seem to be off comparing the one on the nexgen case.

I'm even tempted to put it in a Verna case and start modding away at case. It would look nice with my eview 17p monitor which I love so much since the clarity is nice and bright.

Wish me luck guys as I'm going to be receiving the parts for my ultimate eMachines build (Hopefully Tomorrow)! It's gonna be sad to leave my best friend.. the :luv: eTower-700, but hopefully I can use it as a type of data server or secondary computer. I really went all out on this with upgrading in mind since it's a totally new platform and we shall see more to come for the 1366 socket. All this will be in a cool small blue lit eMachines case with 11 USB ports (5 in front), Good old handy Floppy, and easy to work with case.. Plus to laugh at my friends that my little "Crappy" eMachines can own their gaming rigs.

:P As for the parts to make you drool:

DFI LANPARTY JR X58-T3H6 LGA 1366 Intel X58 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor With HT

2 x PNY XLR8 GeForce 9800 GT 1GB DDR3 with SLI Setup

2x Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s with Raid Zero

KINGWIN Mach 1 ABT-1000MA1S 1000W ATX / BTX SLI Certified CrossFire Ready

2x G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Dual Channel Kit

Vista Ultiimate OEM x64 Edition with SP1

NEXGEN 3 eMachines T2825 Micro ATX Silver/Black Case

eMachines Lite-on DVD±R/RW DL Burner (4X DL burn)

eMachines Samsung DVD Rom 16X NexGen3

Random Floppy for now

Modware Windowed Side Panel + Mod Kit fo T2 Series Blue

Gateway 4-USB 2-AUD I/O Front Assy

2x NEW eMachines 19" E19T5W

I'll surely show pictures of how this beast will be set up. Only part I've skimped on was the CPU fan since it already comes with one, but the current i7 fans are still new and for monster sized cases, also I wont be overclocking. The Power Supply was a VERY tough choice and COSTLY (200 bucks) since a lot of the lower end ones don't give out a lot of juice for SLI or Cross Fire, even tho they are "Certified". This is possibly the BEST power supply one can buy for a ultimate Micro ATX gaming rig since the cables are able to detach from the power supply, meaning no more 4+ useless wires crammed into the case for bad cooling!

I'm sure your wondering what the grand total for all this was for and how I burnt a huge hole in my wallet :X ? Well, I think I've made out darn good considering I'm getting two 19" monitors with this deal and those official eMachine Disc Drive are VERY expensive to get (DVD DL 4x Burner will run ya 100 bucks or more).

Grand Total is.... $1800

Dell XPS 730x Comparison Price: $2,529
HP d5200t Comparison Price: $1,639
Gateway FX6800-01e Comparison Price: $1,249 (Sadly, Gateway has a crappy selection. It seems Acer done a number on Gateway's offerings)

These prices alone makes me feel like I've gotten a steal! These 3 selected comparisons were fun since each one has a huge weakness and still ends up being near the same price (No Monitor included). Surely Dell XPS gives you a roomy lustful Gaming tower, but it seems they rely on customer's loyalty base to end up getting ripped on parts. The dell was the closest built to mine including a XF-I sound card, but holy smokes! pass out I guess HP has given up on keeping up with the competition (including their Voodoo) for high end gaming computing as they only offer Intel Quads and no SLI or Corssfire (I for one enjoyed the Compaq Xs at my old work). Sadly, Gateway has really taken a hit in offerings for high end FX systems as the 1,249 system offers not that much, but great foundation for expansion with an i7.

Well, I thank you all for helping me on building this eMonster eMachines! I'm sorry that the post is super long, but I'm so excited and wanted to share my thoughts of how much of a great deal one could get with the i7s. It seems intel has not only won performance like always, but price also and AMD really needs to soup up their AM3 CPUs since they lost their high wave. I was very close to go AMD and save around 100-200, but it was not worth it at all..

etower - that is one sweet rig and I wish you the best with your build. I also look forward to my soon-to-be upgrade, although not on the magnitude of your awesome project.

A quick question: the Core i7 CPU and socket 1366 are optimized for a "tri-channel" RAM configuration. But, I see your setup has only a dual channel configuration? I'm not sure of how much of a performance gain you'd get from the tri-channel configuration, but wondering why dual and not tri?

Everything I read tells of the beastly performance of the Core i7, so I'm jealous.... and happy building.... pirate

:o I got worried reading up on a Tri channel setup thinking that was the only memory that could be done on a i7 build, but it seems you can do both Dual and Tri which saved me some dollars, plus the DFI Lan Party JR was only tested for Dual Channel setup (Some got Tri working with no problems) . I honestly think there would be no real gain, especially with having 8 Gigabytes of ram with other hardware parts to hold up the huge performance speeds.

DFI Landparty JR X58-T3H6 Specs: http://www.dfi.com/portal/CM/cmproduct/XX_cmproddetail/XX_WbProdsWindow?itemId=641&downloadFlag=false&action=e&windowstate=normal&mode=view

I'm sure this will be a fun, easy, and hopefully a stress free build since I'm working with a roomy NexGen case. I have the case right in front of me and very pleased that this is big enough to handle full sized graphics cards, unlike most Micro ATX cases.

If your going to be doing a next upgrade I highly recommend getting a similar setup with a Core i7 DFI Lanparty JR. Sure that Asus board is nearly identical, but no IDE which would be a pain to convert your current rom-drives. Motherbroad and CPU would cost around 400 which is a excellent price for two high quality parts. Plus I'll be able to report if it fully works with a Nexgen 3 :D hehehe.

The intel i7 is simply revolutionary for price and performance. Amazing, these CPUS are near the speed of a three thousand dollar Macpro tower! For the price I'm building a computer that better in speed, price and tons of ports that makes a mac pro look like a fancy door stop. At this point I don't think AMD will be ever to catch up again. To top things off, 45MM technology which makes these intel cpus run very cool and even allows the computer savy geeks to overclock these cpus without messing with the FSB!

AMD should hit-up Mr. Hussain Obama to give them some Government (i mean citizen) money, so they can actually attempt to compete with Intel... I'd rather give my tax dollars to that, more-so than most of what the so-called stimulus package is going to.

Hell, he's probably contemplating the creation of another Government Agency to oversee consumer-grade electronics and computers. Sticking HIS government's nose into everything.

We'll be living with Obama's blunderings for generations to come.

My question to etower is, What is the front-to-back dimension on that 1KW PSU?
Is it gonna fit that Nexgen case without interfering with the back of your optical drive?

Hi TD,
I have the dimensions on that big dude PSU.
Unit dimension:
7 1/16"(180 mm) L x 5 7/8"(150 mm) W x 3 3/8"(85 mm) H I think that's a little larger than a standard ATX. Might be tight up behind that DVD drive with those Mod cable connections. Might have to eliminate that top drive. Will be interesting to watch

Sorry for the slow response as I'm sure many of you are wondering how this project came out. Well, I'm pleased to say everything works great and I'm VERY please with the fast performance on my new eMachine. Running my online games run flawless and takes up very little resources on the processor. :luv:

Sadly, I should of looked at the Power Supply Dimensions since it's bigger than your standard ATX size (Newegg had no info). I love the beast as it really has a lot of juice and screw on cables so I could eliminate most of them. I'll have to do some reserach for a good SLI Power Supply and hopuflly a regular sized one with screw in connections like the one I got to reduced cable clutter. I'm happy everything worked great and I have one heck of a beast!

Major disapointment was the front USB media card reader did not work, including the audio in and out. plugging it on the motherboard was easy, but I'm just hopping that it's faulty and when my new front USB/Audio pannel from a gateway arrives would work. If I open up the RealTek HD Audio Manager program it does show indication of the two front pannel connections.. Sooo I smell a dirty ebay seller Ar!!!

I do have one picture to show, but the quality is degrading since it was taken with a built in cam on my Thinkpad T61P. For now I'll have to deal with the messy cable work as I'll be replacing the power supply very soon with a new fan down the road because the intel one is somewhat loud. I'll post more (better) pictures when I get my Camera back. Enjoy!

Thanks everybody who encouraged me to do this build as it was well worth it! Sure it was a big price tag, but I see it as an investment down the road and a build that would last long like my beloved etower-700.

PS: Only plus about obamadance1 is him putting the change in my pockets with further unemployment. Sure I'm not proud of being a lazzy bum, but this package will sure be optimized for the lazzy ones lol. Good thing my trade is computer work and is blinded by the goverment. :P

Go for it TD!!! Remember, 400 dollars will get you the Lanparty JR and a intel I7 920 CPU, plus you can auction of your motherboard and processor for $ back :D

Looking at CPUBenchmark.net You'll get nearly double the performance!
Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40Ghz - 2,709
Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.67Ghz - 4,950

I Also wanted to update that the front USB/Media card reader works since I needed to use that silly motherboard "Smart Connector" adapter (looks like I need more since I'll be getting 4 extra USBs in the front door). Lucky it worked since I did not want to bug my ex BF to test the Media card reader on his eMachines.. I mean, Gateway! *snickers* :P

Alsoooo... I gotten the Lite-ON DVD DL Burner with a Samsung DVD 16x Drive. Well, to my suprise the DVD DL fits perfectly leaving it a hair away from the power supply. I did not even make an attempt to put the DVD rom drive since it's longer than the DVD DL and it's all beatten up (back to eBay ya go!). I'm going to return the 1k power supply and swap it out with a Power Supply designed for power hungry eMachine users.

This Corsair is small, quiet, tons of awards, and Modual plug in cable connections to allow minimal cable clutter. The HX620 has enough wattage to power a SLI video card setup while keeping wisper quiet. All I know it's a huge plus since I'll have more space to work with and have better cable management.

All this buzzing sound from the intel fan is driving me up a wall! I'll go ahead and get a Zalman 120mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler. Has anybody tested this out in a eMachine case? It seems it would be a tight fit, but it's my only call since this fan it's really bugging the crap out of me.

Little by little this is all comming together!! :luv:
