AVAST YE ... DEAD MEN DON'T BITE!
|
Most everyone knows this saying "Knowledge is power" I've just finished reading a book for work. I am not big fan or reading, but I decided to read this book with an open mind and see what I could glean from it. The title is "Hey, I'm The Customer" and yes you guessed it, it is a book on customer service. I found some good stuff, but most of it dealt with the aspect of retail customer service. Then finally came the golden nugget on page 191 of 194 ....
Yeah, having knowledge is good, but only to the extent that it is applied! |

I've heard that knowledge is nothing more than receptive comprehension,,,,correct application of that receptive comprehension is the beginning of wisdom.. Now then, please dispell my ignorance; who the hell shuffled the damn forums around?!?!?! |

Who moved my cheese? Did someone move the cheese? To your original point, I've disagreed with the "knowledge is power" cliche and believed for a long time that knowledge is worthless if it isn't put into action (except when a tyrannical government withholds knowledge from the people in order to retain power). The true power comes from its implementation not from hording it and it and this forum (like so many others) is a perfect example of the power of knowledge as it gets implemented! Should they change the phrase to "knowledge in action is more powerful than a closed library"?

Indeed knowledge is key, but you all forgot to add one thing. Action is one thing, but the sharing of knowledge is its most useful application, for the sharing of knowledge is how it is preserved from the erosion of time. Teamwork and sharing allow everyone to broaden their view and resolution of the proverbial "big picture".

When in Doubt... Google it. Google Everything. I don't care if you have to type a f***ing essay into the search box. The first thing they teach you at school should be Google it. They wouldn't have to teach you much else. "My country is the world, and my religion is to do good" - Thomas Paine | |
