Your board may support a 533 CPU - But you didn't say what it was or how you determined this.

Depending on what you are using, you probably reading the FSB of the current CPU

If it's an emachine, go to TD's site HERE and 1st check your model for what mobo it is, thenlook up the mobo. He has tons of stuff on there.

If you're still stuck, give us some more info :D

the motherboard in question is an intel d845gvsr( retail) the processor has not been purchased yet ,This will be a homegrown PC. the processor is the missing link, the rest with exception of case I have lying around.I don't need alot of speed for the purpose of this machine I want I t to perform like an Emachine does long and hard.

The 845GV chipset should support a 533FSB CPU.

Hey 2much,
Here are the supported processors for the retail board.

Now, are you telling us you have the T2958 board with the SR84510B.44T.0038.P07 bios AND the retail D845GVSR board with the VA84510A.86A.0052.P19 bios?

So if you made two simple bootable floppies with DRDFLASH, put Intel IFLASH.EXE and BEEP on them, typed: iflash /sB 2958.BIO or iflash /sB GVSR.BIO as appropriate to each board, you could then post the resultant BIO files to TD25X and the bios update and processor support problem for that board would be SOLVED!

Now that would be neat.... B)

2much, I realise you are busy, so here is how to back up the bios on the T2958. Should take about half an hour if you make a note of the following:

You need one blank floppy disc and a copy of the P19 iflash bios update downloaded to your T2958 desktop. Available here:
http://www.intel.com/products/motherboard/d845gvsr/tools.htm

Put it in a new folder called "Intel BIOS".
Open the folder and double clck on the app.
It will create a pile of icons.
Double click on Run.bat and insert the blank floppy.
The software will be installed to the floppy.
Reboot with the floppy in the drive.
The bios update will fail and take you to the C:\ prompt.
type "dir" to see what is on the C: drive.
type as follows "copy iflash.exe a:\"
type "a:" (To take you to the floppy drive, because the C: drive is a RAM disk...)
type "dir" to see what is on the a: drive, you should see iflash.exe there.
Now delete everything on the a: drive except command.com and iflash.exe. You do this file by file, so for instance type "del autoexec.bat" and so on.
Your a: drive should be down to the two files, which you confirm with the dir command.

Reboot using the three figered salute (aka CTRL-ALT-DEL) with that floppy in the drive, hit return on date and time, and type "dir" to confirm it is the simple bootable with command.com and iflash.exe on it.
Now type "iflash /sB 2958.BIO"
Now the dir command will reveal the presence of a bios backup file called 2958.BIO which should be precisely 368,800 Bytes in size.

There is room on the disk for a second bite at the retail board later, and would suggest you back it up as "iflash /sB GVSR.BIO"

Now you can take out the floppy and reboot to windows, copy the backups to your desktop, and compress them into zipped folders with a right click.

Should be a piece of cake.... ;)

Edit: Added Reboot Command details...
