I believe the Napoli mobo has a 2X AGP? What happens if you throw a 4X/8X card into that slot? Does it just run slower, or do you cause harm (or does it not work)?

It won't hurt any thing...it'll just run at 2X

A 4x/8x AGP card won't even fit in a 2x slot.

This image is from an Intel web page showing a 4x card as relates to a 2x slot.

The VOLTAGES are different, as well.

You're right bigsteve,,,well kinda...
Some 4X will fit a 2X slot, but it should say in the specs that it is 2X / 4X compatible...8X won't fit a 2X slot

Good point ... it can be a touchy cross-over item with older mobo's.

Hmmm....looks like there might be hope. I'm looking for a new home for the 9800 pro, and it supposedly will fit AGP 8X (0.8v), 4X (1.5V) or Universal AGP 3.0 bus configuration (8X/4X). I'll crack open the case and find out for sure soon. Here's a pic of the 9800pro from newegg (same model/brand as mine).
