Did a pretest with my 9800pro on the Soyo system in my sig using 3DMark03, and the score was 5871 with no OC. Just for fun, I did a system comparison at Futuremark with the x800xl, and it should come close to doubling my score....oh I can't wait! LOL Will let you know Thursday the actual results. It should run about 10600 with the new card. :luv:

Decided to just buy the card while I could find one at a decent price (and it's an "early" Christmas present from my very nice & wonderful parents). I have to make sure it works before sending in rebate, so, darn...have to install it now.

I am looking forward to replaying HL2 this weekend.

It's here, it's installed, and it's nice. However, my 3dMark03 score didn't quite match with comparisons on the Futuremark site. There is no difference noted between AGP and PCI-E there, I'm guessing that may be the difference. Mine scored 9739, while the average was around 10200-10500. Not that it really matters a bit, it's still a nice card & available for AGP slots ($225 price point AR, may go cheaper?). But we're still talking a huge improvement over the 9800 pro.

One thing though, this card is HUGE! I have a large mid-tower case, not an e case. Barely fits, it needs a large case and good cooling, not sure if it would fit in a regular emachine. Make sure your ram sits above your AGP slot, or it won't fit. Mine fit by a few hairs. Also, it is long, and will interfere with your hard drive bays if your case is not big enough. I bought the ATI version, as it had the fan on the card instead of heatpipes. I prefer this, there's been complaints of the fanless versions running hot.

I'm not an ATI fan"girl", but stuck with ATI for this machine since the mobo has ATI chipsets & the price was right at the time for this particular card. Prices are back up right now, but there will be many deals between now and Christmas no doubt.

Also, make sure you have adequate power supply.
