This is what I am contemplating purchasing for my T3256. I know very little about video cards.
I will not be doing any gaming, but am thinking about doing some video work - converting VHS and camcorder tape to DVD.
Will this give me any improvement over the onboard graphics?
Thanks! Any help is appreciated.

The video card will help with games, but it won't help with converting VHS or camcorder tapes to DVD.

Why not?

Well, most add-on video cards helps only with displaying images for applications (like games) that need better and faster graphics than the on-board video. Maybe azpicturethis is thinking about a video card with a TV tuner or video inputs built-in?

The on-board video is fine for seeing what you get when converting of analogue video to digital files. I don't think the add-on card has any effect on the software used to convert analogue video to digital files. I used to use a TV tuner card to convert video to digital files and did not see any difference when using the on-board video as compared to a video card I added later.

As for converting video, I'm now using a mini DV camcorder with analogue-to-digital passthrough, which gives me very good results.
