pirate I have a Emachine 600is it has 192Mb Ram pc100 dimm's.

It's the ANAHIEM 2 board with INTEL ®810 Intel chipset & the Intel® 82810 graphics controller along with a celeron 600Mhz processor !

just a second PC I am trying to get a lil graphics out of for my 9 year Son.

Beleive it or not I have WinXPpro SP2 installed on a LAN/Cable & running great !
for quite awhile now.

But this board has no AGP slot, rather it has integrated graphics & sound.

So I got myself an
ATI pci Graphics card from a friend that got himself a new video card.

Please allow me to explain that I have tried to place this ATI pci 32mb video card into a few Machines only to see it work in 2 of them?

When I booted it up I could see the post self test screen and the (WINXP pro logo) with the lil blue loading bar, but then rite about the time XPpro should open up to the desktop all goes BLACK?

So I thought to myself place a different Vid card into My Emachine 600is

When I checked the owner's Manual to see if the onboard Graphics needed to be disabled in BIOS it says:

There is no need to do anything as
"If one places a PCI Video Card into the board the OnBoard Video will disable "

I tried a older Diamond pci vid card with something like 16Mb of Ram on it

Same problem ? Complete black screen after post on self test screen & M$ logo

So then I got a bright Idea I put a spare Hard drive into the Emachine 600is
it has WinME on it, I booted up & Dang-It all worked fine !

What the heck is going on ?
See my Prob?

The ATI pci 32mb Video card works in M$ME on my board but not on XP

If anyone can come up with a lil help on this topic It would be Farout
Sorry if I rambled but I thought it better to get it all in on the first shot !

You know I came here expecting for someone to say:
"DUDE you need to flash your BIOS"

And that's why you cant see the option to disable the*Onboard/Integrated Graphics within the Bios Setup Program!

Just flash it & all will be A-Ok
!

! Wrong !

But the link you provided did allow me to feel my way thru the Problem
and in the end that is all I really wanted to accomplish anyhow! THANK YOU

But there were a few diferences in the Suggested steps at the link & the Actual steps that I ended up taking to resolve My ATI Video Card Issue.

It is because of these differances that I think it Benifical to post the steps that I took to get it all straightened out from within WinXP Pro SP2.

Really what it boils down to is there is no way to disable the
Integrated/Onboard Graphics Controller from within BIOS.

So if you can't Flash or you might be afraid to Flash the bios,
then you need to disable the Graphics from within the OS (WinXP Pro SP2)

And this is where the steps are just a lil different!
It seems the steps provided on the link you gave me, are aimed more towards Win9x.

However in WinXPproSP2 you need to go straight to

Device Mangler/Graphics Adapter/Properties/"DO NOT USE THIS DEVICE(Disable)"
Then click ok & close the properties window.

Once done you will be prompted to reboot "Choose NO"

But rather go to the Start Menu & select to SHUT DOWN.

At this point I place the Video Card into the PCI Slot.
(I placed mine into PCI Slot#1 & got no IRQ conflict's)

And Started up the PC(600is)

WinXPproSP2 with all M$ Updates, then Auto detected the Add in PCI Card
(ATI RADEON 7500 DVI) and I was prompted to allow it to autosearch for a driver.

I choose to let it auto search.

The OS then found a WHQL Driver for my new card, but I noticed that there was no fancy ATI Control Panel.

However I allready had downloaded the latest driver from ATI's Website

wxp-w2k-catalyst-ccc-8-121-050322a-022141c-english

Along with the Absolutly Neccesary M$ Update
NET Framework ver1.1.4332

Without this NET Framework Update the ATI (Control Panel) wont work !

You will get error's when OS opens,So make sure you install the
NET Framework 1.1 update first!!!!!!!!!!!

Then Double click on the ATI Catalyst Driver Installer & allow it to install & follow all prompts.

And that is it reboot & all is good to go.

I used to just have 16/24bit color quality/1Mb Vid Ram/very lil resolution settings

I now have 32bit color quality/64Mb Vid Ram/DVI Out/Massive Resolution Settings

But mainly I dont have to rob my CPU of physical Ram when my Video Controller need's it

In the End I have to say thanx to this Forum & not Emachine Support/Trigem/ATI for leading me in the rite direction of which I probably would not have gotten to as quickly without!
