I am having a problem with my parents e-machine that I have not read about in these forums. They recently purchased an ATI 9600 AGP card and installed it into their T2825 e-machine. Unfortunately the computer wouldn't even get to the BIOS page. I got the card to function after visiting this site but there is one problem I cannot solve. When initially powering up the computer, I have to hold the power button for approx 4 seconds for the video card to come on and the computer to boot up. If I don't hold the button on initial power up, the fans spin but the video will not come on and the system hangs before I can even get to the BIOS page. If I restart the computer from Windows it boots up fine. I have reduced the AGP aperture, ensured that 'Onboard/AGP' is selected in the BIOS advanced menu, and deleted the Windows XP drivers for the onboard video as suggested in the sticky post. The e-machine case does not have a reset switch nor does it have a reset switch cable that connects to the MB. I have not flashed the BIOS or the video card and am hoping to avoid that if I can. The power supply could stand to be upgraded but I am unsure if it is related to this problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I think you've already solved your own problem. Last I knew, the ATi 9600 was recommended for use with a 300w PSU as a minimum. |
