I have an emachines w2646 with a Imperial 845GV mobo,2.6 intel celeron processor.can anyone tell me what is the highest Mhz Processor I can upgrade to? AMD,P4 or Celeron? which is best?

Well the 845GV mobo has a FSB of up to 533Mhz & is also an Intel 478pin type CPU adapter so putting in am AMD chip is out of the question. The highest spec 533Mhz FSB chips that Intel have made are the P4 with a speed of 3.06Ghz with HT (i don't know if your board will support HT) or the new type Celeron D's which i think go up to 2.93Ghz. If i were you i'd stick to the P4. |
