What kind of BIOS do you have? The mobo that is in your machine is an Alaska 3 & from what i can see it is very similar to the Imperial class. If you can't find any referance to onboard audio settings in the BIOS try perssing the "F11" keywhen you're in the BIOS. This may unlock some of the more sensitive settings in the BIOS. It does on mine anyway. |

Best way to check is to go through the "ADD or REMOVE PROGRAMS" in "CONTROL PANEL". This will show any drivers still in there. If not check the folder "DRIVERS" in the C: drive. There will be a folder marked "AUDIO" which holds all the original onboard audio drivers. Just a matter of interest, is the soundcard that you are attempting to install compatible with XP & are the drivers for XP? This may sound a stupid question but check it anyway. Also check the status of the onboard audio in "DEVICE MANAGER". Is it disabled?. |

I've been trying to sort this problem for about a week now, and everytime I tried it did exactly the same as you were describing. At work now, and can't wait to get my system running back to normal when I get home. A bit vary of deleteing windows files, but still, nothing else has worked, so it'll be worth it, Cheers for the help, -=Kas=- |
