I have a T1150 and would like to upgrade to USB 2.0. I've seen USB cards that have USB 2.0 ports on it -- and an internal connector. Can the front ports on the T1150 be upgraded to USB 2.0? I haven't cracked the case to look yet, but I would assume that the front ports are simply plugged into the motherboard for USB 1.1 support --- if so, I should be able to unplug and connect those to a new internal USB 2.0 card...right? Anyone know for sure, or has done this? |

There is no standard pin arrangement for an internal USB port. Most have the pins in a line, but some emachines use a 2x3 arrangement. If the pins don't match, you can cut the wires and splice in a different set of connectors. The wiring/connector may not be up to snuff for a 2.0 spec, but this is unlikely to create a problem. The wiring also is likely not to be long enough to reach a PCI card. |
