I don't know if this has been covered before, the search function is disabled right now.

In my eTower 400i3, Windows98 SE hangs on the shutdown screen whenever I try to shutdown or restart. It will hang indefinitley.

I've done some searching, and Microsoft did release a patch for this problem, but that did not work.

I've tried a ton of stuff. Any ideas?

I figure that others have run into this problem and may have a solution

thanks

Microsoft does have a lot of stuff/suggestions for this. When I had this problem a few years ago, it was something bad with the sound card drivers (Soundblaster Live). I uninstalled and resinstalled and it worked. But obviously there are lots of possibilities.
