Greetings. This is my first post here. I'm certainly relieved to see that eMachine owners, especially owners of older machines like mine, have a website which we can discuss and troubleshoot problems and upgrades. I have an eTower 333k which I've owned for many years. Here are it's current specs: Win98 (Original) AMD K6-2 400MHz (Replaced Original AMD K6-2 333MHz) 350W Power Supply (Replaced Original 150W) CC Custom Tower (Replaced Original Tower) HP CD-Writer 8200e USB Burner 3DFX Voodoo 4 4500PCI 32MB Video Card (Disabled On-Board Video) 160MB SDRAM (1x128MB + 1x32MB) AOC Spectrum 7VLR Monitor (1280x1024, .28DPI Non-Interlaced) D-Link Wireless G Router Maxtor 13GB HD 7200RPM EIDE (Replaced Original 3GB) Maxtor 60GB HD 7200RPM EIDE (Primary HD) I have two questions concerning upgrading my computer. First off, I would like to know what would be the most powerful processor I can put into my original Trigem motherboard. I have heard that the AMD K6-2 400MHz (which I currently have) is the most powerful, but I have also heard that the AMD K6-2 500MHz can be used. What is the truth? Second, I would like to know if I can upgrade my RAM to 512MB using 2x256MB. I'm not sure if my BIOS will support that much SDRAM. Thanks for your input, I hope to hear from you soon. |

Well....since you have a Delhi III and you have a Voodoo card.....the truth is that you can use an AMD K3+ @600 mhz and 512mb sdram if you use the right type of memory. That is the truth. If that sounds like more, let us know. TJ

Thank you very much for your input, that definitely clarified things up. I had absolutely no that an AMD K6-3 would work on my system, I thought I was limited to only using the AMD K6-2 line up of processors. Thanks again for your help! |

AMD K3 cpus work as is ,AMD K2+ and K3+ require a small software workaround or an available patched bios upgrade. |
